Mannnnn i really loooove this watchhhhh.

BTW where do u normally buy pre-owned watch bro? Any recomendation?

Is there any pre owned zenith el primero out there at any shop. ? :(

the 38mm original 1969 el-primero seems to be oos in many ADs currently.

i usually window shop at 2nd hand watch shops. so i can examine the watch in the metal.

if you're adventurous and trust online sellers, can try the FS sections of forums like watchuseek. or try ebay. but i'd avoid those that ship via fedex (aka fedup), dhl or ups cos these bloody **** courier companies will automatically tack on 7% gst.

When it come to brand name where ordinary ppl will know it's a prestigious watch....

1. Rolex
2. Omega
3. Brietling
4.Tag Heuer
5. Cartier maybe?

.......sad to say but normal ppl know nothing about great brand like Zenith, Sinn etc

simple. ask yourself: you're wearing for others, or for yourself? ;)

there're more elite tier watches than the 5 common mass market brands you listed. and they get blown out of the water by ALS, PP, AP, VC, philip dufour, f p journe, roger smith, parmigiani, h moser & cie, urwerks, mb&f, richard mille, etc, etc.

i think by now, every regular in this thread knows i'm partial to the oop omega seamaster professional chronometer ref 2254.50. so it's no wonder that i wholeheartedly recommend you the omega 2254.50. :s12:

this cult favorite among its admirers may not be the most expensive diver, but its current market price with boxes+cards+manual has comfortably exceeded it's initial retail price, and will only continue to climb steadily in the future. :D

the 2254.50 is a future classic in the making, right before our very eyes. grab them now before its price climb even higher in the future. yes, you heard it first from me. feel free check back in 10-20 yrs time and thank me later. ;) cos those who own them will be able to pocket a nice fat return!

apart from being a safe investment piece, this watch, imo, is full of charm & character. :)

more from my review last year.
Thanks for the advice Bro. Also I saw your advice on going to people Park complex in the event of getting of a Tudor. Will go and do my research again!

yeah, but WHERE to send a high-value vintage rolex for RELIABLE, SAFE & QUALITY SERVICING without an unscrupulous person swapping out the precious guts or even dial/hands of your precious vintage rolex? rolex is not patek. unless i'm mistaken, rolex do not stock nor fabricate spare parts after a certain number of years. so sourcing for genuine spare parts is another source of headache for vintage rolex collectors.

I sent mine to David chew before. He opened the case immediately, asked me to verify the movement number. Collection that time he show me the movement number, and case it back it.

My Speedy was fully-wound on Sunday 12pm. However, I checked it this morning at 815am and it was still running. Wtf? It's way past its power reserve of 48hrs lol.

thanks, bro furryballs! managed to googled your earlier post about parts scavenging, sub-contracting to swap out complete movements. scary!

did david chew do pressure testing for you after casing up... and how much does he charge? does he do omega too? and does he offer any post-servicing warranty? thanks!

This is very helpful.

Thanks

bb fever was at its peak when the tudor rose dial bb noir was 1st released last year. the tudor boutique in people's park complex is despo for sales. most times when i drop by, also no customer. so if you really, REALLY want a tudor, and is prepare to plonk down cold hard cash for your bb (5 pcs of $1k note) go there. 20% discount can be had easy, else walk away. (they're so despo, if you're lucky, maybe can even swing a 22.5% or even a 25% discount if the SA has to meet his/her sales target.) better yet, can get boutique-only tudor gifts. yes, you heard it first from me. and you're welcome.

just avoid the tudor boutique at mbs. their sales/service attitude suck balls ttm. unprofessional and bo chup. don't know which idiot hire them. :s8: even the seiko watch shop that sell cheap seikos, quartz watches and change watch battery at chinatown complex has much better service. please, let someone with a good service attitude & who works hard to give you a juicy discount earn your money! ;)

thanks for your suggestions, bro gaoxing84!

just some comments, though:

JW - turnaround time is a nightmare for the impatient, right?
Png Watches - was in the news for saying either him or someone he knows in the watch trade got snooked by counterfeit rolexes. go figure.
K2 - hang high to sell. can & willing 2 different things. feedback from bros here already indicate he's not obliging to fix what's requested. also tanjong katong shopping centre. too. bloody. far. (for me anyway). :(
