good move, bro snowver! the 40mm 16570 polar rolex explorer II is just about the only affordable rolex sports model left that's also attractive and with a dial that "pops".

grab a good one while the prices have not surged, and enjoy it with the full knowledge that you'll get back what you paid for - maybe even earn a bit!

if the prices on chrono24.sg are any indication, prices of the 40mm polar explorer 16570 are slowly but steadily picking up (not that it should surprise keen rolex observers).

i got into the watch hobby late, and missed out on the GMT Master/Master II wave. i shall not miss out with the 40mm explorer II! while its bezel is fixed, it has the very same movement as the GMT Master II - at only slightly more than half the GMT Master II price! fully functional as a travel watch that allows you to change the hour hand to destination time without the watch skipping a beat, with the red GMT hand referencing your home time. a bargain! the rotatable bezel of the GMT Master just adds the option for a 3rd timezone. useful, but at current prices? yikes!

recently hooted a 2nd polar explorer II when the opportunity arose. cos reselling it later will earn better returns than the current pathetic bank interest. specifically a Y series. why? (pun intended )

cos the P, K and Y series are coveted ones imho for:

- having lug holes (for that retro look & feel, and ease of popping out the bracelet),
- yet have SELs that makes the bracelet a bit sturdier and less rattly,
- and being more practical by having luminova lume that still glows decently in the dark.

full set - of course! (how else to buy any watch? ), complete with:
- period correct outer and inner boxes,
- dated guarantee/chronometer certificate,
- leather certificate sleeve,
- 2002/2003 rolex card calender,
- service manual,
- period correct "your rolex oyster" booklet,
- period correct "rolex explorer" booklet,
- authentic red chronometer seal with rolex hologram,
- green hangtag
- and of course, the 40mm 16570 rolex polar explorer II, with period correct 78790A bracelet and "AD1" year correct clasp.

that's *slightly* less than my full set Z series polar explorer II. feeling stoked!
