It's never easy to a gift that someone really likes. Best if you sound him out and check on what he wants before you buy.

Watch is like jewelry, very personal. He prefers a chronograph, dress watch, diver, pilot, smart watch?!

A sports Rolex will be best for value retention. That being said, it will still be very unlikely that it appreaciates in value.

Nothing wrong with wearing a Rolex (not full gold) when you are working in the civil service. Rolex is a common brand and can be seen as an entry level luxury watch.

i can attest to this. bought my dad a seiko monster. based on his wrist size, his previous watches, decided on that watch. a nice watch to me, n i would love to hv it in my collection. but.....he didnt like it. n i tink he didnt want to return it to me as it is a gift. he kept it but i nvr see him wear. feel like asking him to give it back n i replace with another watch :s13:

面对现实啦!!!你不是盲目的,你应该见过还是经历过惨痛的现实!
:D 要是你还没有“体验”的话,今天发薪水(有些加年中花红),就走入劳力士经销商,买下一只皇冠,再去二手商那里将手中的皇冠卖掉。。。证明你是对的! :D

Untiong pls =:p

Does Tudor hold its value well?

Yup I don't want it to be overly flashy / in-your-face type. What's a grail territory? Should I get a new watch or a vintage?

It's so difficult choosing a watch as a gift :(

Tudor watches doesn't hold much. Have a look at carousell and its flooded with black bay and many not sold yet.

I would think the half gold blue Submariner is flashy.
