Yesterday a friend casually asked me if i would consider selling my beloved 5167 to him.

Of course I politely shrugged it off...BUT it did make me wonder what could i buy with the money, if i agreed hypothetically. :D

I thought about 3 very worthy candidates.

- Audemars Piguet 15202 ST

Essentially this would mean a nice upgrade for me, although i've not crossed the psychological barrier of spending more than SGD30,000 on a watch yet. Servicing is also costly, let alone replacing the beautiful bracelet

- Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual

This one has always been close to my heart. Right size for me. Nice complications with very balanced look. Cons - would hurt my pocket most if i decided to ever let it go one day. Pros - I become Dr Strange

- Patek Philippe 5711 / 5712

Worthy upgrades to the 5167. I've even put my name on the list for a blue dial 5711. It's beautiful altogether.

Alas, all of them are beautiful. But I think i'll keep my 5167 for now.

Sorry just day dreaming at lunch

Seemingly, rolex submariner (especually the black sub) is so much more popular than other rolex models, even the datejust. Wonders why.

Just occurred to me the dial layout of the perpetual calendar is like a chrono, with the lettering forming what looks like subdial bezels from far. Very nice. But yeah this watch has to be buy for keeps. Servicing would be likely more than the 15202 , even though AP, its a simpler movement yeah.

Pay $ also cannot service? Thats really shiat man!!

Ya lor! Anyway Top Hour & Poh Ling Watch (derrick) is always there to service. Was quoted from $200-$400 for Tudor ETA servicing. :)

Given that swatch group is slowing controlling ETA movement, I suspect Rolex may have some difficulty getting ETA replacement parts in the near future.
