Guys! Need help here hahaha. Am looking for a watch for my lady. She's used to wearing fashion watches (dw, rosefield etc.) but is also open to going into automatic watches. The thing is whatever I've reccomended is not up to her liking (Orient bambino, sarb 035 and even nomos).

So I now humbly seek wisdom from the elders here on what minimal automatic watch I can suggest. Budget is around 500sgd, with a silver case, 36-38mm and mesh strap. Kam xia everybody! Throw me whatever ideas you can think of (except the ones I've stated above)

bro GLK, those watches are meant for men's taste!

(most) zhar boh prefer colours like white, cream, gold, pink, red, purple... motifs like butterflies, fairies, hearts, sun, moon & stars... and bling, preferably diamonds, but will make do with swarovski crystals... those kinds! :s13:

good thing for you, orient models for ladies have all the above!

http://www.orient-watch.com/products/category/?category_id=7

or go big time @ commonwealth one (authorized dealer for orient watches in sg) i'm 95% confident there's one lady's watch in their display case that your gf will like. (5% in case she's an outlier).

Not bad, quite affordable leh.
Any DC-in jack at the back so that it can run off a sort of power source?
It's okay even if it's not USB 5V, I'll just hack together a sort of circuit to make it compatible to USB voltage.

I see they're in Orchard, I should pay them a visit tomorrow...

yup! they can run off a power source too (3 pin plugs)...
ask for discounts if u go to their store n self pickup :o

ok, off topic from watches, but my 5MP 2009 phone of the year HTC hero (before it got unintentionally locked out+bloated battery) was able to take good photos in good lighting. today's devices can easily do better.

a couple of possible reasons:
- object was probably inside the min focusing distance of the imaging device.
- the autofocus was on the background instead.

possible solutions:
- ensure object is beyond the min focusing distance of the imaging device.
- use spot focus on the object.
- use focus peaking when in manual mode if it's available in your device (my el-cheapo xiaomi Mi 5 has that).
- place object on a stable platform and aim plenty of good light on it, so the imaging device don't have to struggle with a low shutter speed and high ISO that'll give grainy photos.

ok... back to our regular programming... watches! :D

At that budget I don't think there's any swiss/jap automatic that's thin. I suspect thinness is one of the reasons girls like dw.

One step up, but not automatic is the Tissot Everytime series.

At least swiss ETA movement, just that it's quartz.

Tissot Visodate is automatic, someone suggested also. I think a bit out of your budget, and close to twice the thickness, can see if she likes. You'll probably need to test test see what are the features that attract her then easier to narrow down.

The other suggestion I have is to go for fashion mechanical watches from Fossil, Solvil et Titus, etc. Can see if she likes the open heart/skeleton designs.
Bring her to accept mechanical first, slowly poison one step at a time :s13:

My girl got into fashion mechanical watches (Arbutus) cos she liked the skeleton. Then now she is loving the Alpinist I bought her.

哇佬喂。。。

Still, there's no need to add that sentence.
As if you can afford nice watches but not good enough camera phone to take pics for him.

How come everyone comes and shoot me? I want to encourage him to post more pictures of his nice watches ma.

From his post, he seems not going to post anymore pictures of his nice watches. So I just give his some suggestions only, for examples, by posting nice pictures of the backside of his nice watches.

His photos are blur and I thought he didn't use better camera phone so I thought to give him suggestions to take nicer photos using better camera phone? I just giving some suggestions only ma.

Maybe the tone of my posts doesn't sound good? Then I am very sorry for that.

I will stop Le...

I guess it was the tone la. Anyway you can see the choice of words do matter very much as it affects the message put across. I'm ok with you la, no worries!

I'm not going to post my small collection till my AP cos I don't want to fatigue the good folks here. That's not to say I'm not going to take wrist shots from time to time.

Hope to see some photos of your watches too! :)
