Which model is it? I noticed their Orient displays are quite generous here, really quite a lot more models than in Singapore. But as usual the prices are sky high. Minus VAT and whatever measly discounts they have at the moment still not worth.

Managed to get my friend hooked on a Bambino and an SNKL though. He'll be buying watches when he gets back to Singapore

to be honest, not just watches. A lot of things Singapore is cheaper. only standard of living Thailand is less, but can see incremental over the years.

This is true, just few years back the cost of food in BKK was very cheap.
A coconut from a restaurant was like 20 baht or so, it's now 50+ 60 baht sometimes even 70. Food also seen a steep increase in price but compared to Singapore it's still far more affordable, $2 meal at the food court.
