well, hello there! :D

haeRsWH.jpg

i bought my mk.I pepsi mako brand spanking new from bigtime last christmas to scratch that pepsi itch for less than $200 on bracelet. :s12: probably one of the last brand new ones available out there. good luck finding one brand new with warranty at any orient AD now.

i chose the old school mk.I version over the mk.II version despite the newer mako:
- having a windable & hackable movement, and
- ditching the controversial marmite-either-you-love-it-or-hate-it day wheel pusher at 2 o'clock.

i used to abhor the ugly appendage, but finally warmed to it for its unique & idiosyncratic look & feel (another huge plus: it's oop liao ;))

We need to let our makos meet up and say hello tt01 ^.^

in time to come, green superluminova rolex lume will be hip, cool and very sought after in a sea of blue chromalight rolex lume and dead, crumbling tritium. :D

reminds you temptingly of pistachio, macha, avocado or choco mint ice cream on a hot, Hot, HOT day, no? :lick:

I prefer without the pusher at 2 o'clock.
Was contemplating between this and a Ray ii. But went ahead with the Pepsi in the end.
I like their blue dial. Lol.
Got it for less than $200 brand new as well.

I tried on the SKX007 and SKX009 as well. Not sure why they don't look as nice on my wrist. They look thick and kind of small in diameter on my wrist.

you got yourself a great bargain, if it was a local AD set with warranty that will be honored by bigtime.

what tipped me finally in favor of the old school mk.I pepsi mako are the following:
- the day-pusher at 2 o'clock is what make orient watches unique (just like the DPC on the panerai luminor),
- without the day-pusher, the watch profile looks much like many other watches (but for those that dislike it, the mk.II is a great choice),
- the crown is bigger on the mk.I mako,
- the mk.II while having a hackable, windable movement still have not upgraded to solid end links,
- my soft spot for out-of-production watches.

i love the full minute marking bezel of the skx007/009. it gives them a mil-sub vibe. but i balk at paying the price for a 7s26 non-hackable, non-windable skx007/009 when my 2nd generation fang hour-marker dial orange monster, equipped with a 4r36 windable, hackable movement and SEL/solid links bracelet, cost LESS than an skx007/009.

Gennermen, where can I purchase an 18mm rose gold tang buckle?

Just the buckle, do not want any strap or what.

Itchy hand bought the Orient AC00006B, changed to vintage leather strap which looks damn swee until you turn around and see the SS buckle which sticks out like a sore thumb.

Actually my choice in watches are based on looks and quality...brand is a just so happens to be kinda thing. I find anything from entry to mid luxury like Tag is good enough. Too bad Tags don't get much respect :D

consider going hardcore on true racing legends:
- vintage rolex daytona
- vintage heuer
- vintage omega speedmaster
