It's 2 years and 2 months old. I bought it brand new. It's unfortunate that I did not send it for servicing before the warranty has ended.

As far as I remember, I have not exposed the watch to element or shock, it's a daily office wear watch for me.

I spoken to Omega, it will take 6-8 weeks if I am to proceed with the servicing.

I had spoken to a watch repair shop highly recommended in the Rolex forum, the turnaround time is 6 months. Is this the usual turnaround time for outside repair shops?

he already stated the problem in his first post, so if its a defect within the warranty period, omega will fix it FOC
but warranty passed, i think can get omega to reduce the charge as the problem comes in right after it ended.
or rather, ask them to waive the parts and only manpower fee.

Hi everyone,

I am having problem with my Omega speedmaster of 2 years ago. I notice that the second hand is not moving despite winding it a few hours ago. The second hand remains as it is and the chronograph is not working.

I was informed by Omega that full servicing is required (~SGD940).

I am deciding whether should I have Omega service the watch or to send it elsewhere. If I understand correctly, on top of servicing, Omega will polish the watch and provide 2 years warranty.

For outside servicing, is it purely just servicing with no polishing?

Will greatly appreciate any input. Cheers!

Yo...6 months is an eternity. unless they need to send your watch to Zurich or something.

Thanks guys! I asked for the technican's assessment and I was told that it's due to low lubricant and loose components. It's not something I expect from a 2-year old watch, but I guess things just happen.

I will try to negotiate for the charge to be reduced but I doubt it will help.

yup, SBGV017, but i dont know if they updated the model number yet..

if you can live without the watch for 6 mths, JW servicing price is very reasonable.
I remember mine was done half price of what swatch will charge.

Waiting time now at 3-4 months, similar timing to AD.

I serviced/repaired my AP at 1.2k... significant savings.
