The Quintessential Black Dress Watch

Please be totally non brand or price conscious and let me know which would you choose and why. Always wanted to get one, and possibly next purchase in a year or so. Thanks! :s12:

I feel that a true dress watch shouldn't have lume on its hands, so the Moser is out.

Between the JLC and the Nomos, the Nomos wins hands down for me. Not a fan of the JLC date window.

Must be a three hander, no complications?

I think white or silver dial is dressier. Brand name somewhat adds to dressiness actually. By that i mean like the font, some tapering of indices, polished vs matt finishes. Nomos is generally very sterile looking. Clean look yes. Dressy i would say less so, imho.

I personally like the nomos best though

Skywatches / Watch Fashion

Hi all, I bought a seiko from skywatches store in chinatown and did not received any warranty card and instruction manual.

Just realised they actually do issue both items if purchase from them online.

May I know is this their usual practice and anyone here encounter this too?

Didn't expect so much constructive comments to be honest hee hee

Thanks, not too familiar with Nomos. Indeed 38mm would be better. I haven't tried on this size, but I reckon 39/38 is a sweet spot.

don't think Nomos has a black Orion in 38mm...

another option (that I've also been thinking about) is the GS SBGA285, and change out to a GS leather strap.

I thought so, as didn't see a black on the website. Yup the Seiko on strap could work, but can't find any pics online with a strap.

Pioneer series too big to be a dress watch

Can trust you to know most about Moser since you own one. Yeah, didn't know the pic was a Pioneer which is 42+mm. The 39mm also has no lume which is dressier. Correction : Endeavor series is 40.8mm now. Tad too big. Moser also has no date..

Indeed 35mm would be too small. JLC Ultra thin doesn't have a black dial from what I have been researching.

Perhaps, but personal choice for me on the black. I know what you mean, I love how Moser writes it in cursive. Indeed, I don't like the way NOMOS is written, in fact that is my main gripe.

I feel that a true dress watch shouldn't have lume on its hands, so the Moser is out.

You have a very keen eye. I didn't even take note of lume. Yeah I would agree lume does make a watch less formal especially if in large amounts.

I kinda need the date, at least I think so, otherwise gotta fish out my mobile phone everytime I need to know the date.

Like to keep it simple so not much complications, besides saving on cost hee
