If you are looking at resale value, it really depends on the model. Stainless steel Nautilus models holds their value remarkably well, as do Aquanaut, especially with the recent (ridiculous) price adjustments. Ditto for certain QP models (think 5270), though the pool of potential buyers are smaller for obvious reasons.

As respected as the Calatrava is as a dress watch, it generally performs poorly in the secondary market.

I think steel is safe against wood, desk diving will get you more scratches if you wear it often enough.
I understand if people baby their precious metal watches, but no point for steel sports watches... I have brought this BB along for snorkeling anyways

Hands bezel crystal. Think I’ll keep the dial. :)

Something like this - MM300 hands, vintage ceramic bezel, sapphire double dome. :)

Was quoted $850 by iwc for movement; minute hand n chrono spoilt
