Not sure about buying locally, but it is still way cheaper buying straight from Steinhart.

I will still suggest going to Gnomon to purchase and try. Problem is the QC quality of the watch. For my watch, I went through at least 3 piece before I got the perfect one.

Common QC issue is misaligned bezel insert, dial imperfection(marks, scratch), bezel rotation too loose or tight. Movement move too fast.

Agreed. I had an issue with mine but was OK with sending it (they paid for everything) in for RMA.

For convenience, Gnomon is the way to go, just don't go there with just the intention of trying and not buying from them.
