J model are made in Japan. The k are just made outside Japan, it does not stand for Korea. Can be made in Singapore/ Malaysia or other countries which are unable to confirm.

The J designation just has some minor cosmetic changes. The notion that it's made in Japan is probably a rumor started by people who paid the extra money or merchants to fool people.

Loads of the J models are for the Middle Eastern market, with Arabic day. It is a requirement to state the country of "origin" for that market.

I am looking to replace my Tissot Visodate strap which has gone through very serious wear and tear.
Any recommendations? Am looking to replace something similar alike to the design of original strap but not looking at butterfly and folding clasps.

Nope, there's a huge difference between J model number and JDM model. Only JDM models are definitely made in Japan.

Only the j model are made in Japan. It is printed on the dials..... The k and j are the same cosmetically for the same model no...... Except the made in Japan on the dial.... Watchusseek has a thread on that.....

Yep, just like Steinhart is Swiss Made. You'll do well to read up more about consumer labels. Just because something says it's made in Japan doesn't mean that it is. After all, why would a Made in Japan model have Arabic date wheel? :s13:

Dunno which WUS threads you've been reading, but these all say the same thing, which is what I said.

But OK la, you keeping drinking your MIJ Kool-Aid, and continue convincing yourself that MIJ model can be bought for under SGD300, just believe what you want. There are also other examples like SNZG15 that have J model, and those are $140 and below. Ignorance is bliss.

Even some of the JDM models with J model proudly declare that the case is made in China, SARB033 being one example.

Hello,

Wondering if there's any recommendations for seagull movement servicing?

Tried crawling through previous threads, but can't find much info. :(

Bro relax rah forums are for sharing knowledgeable, no need to get so agitated. https://forums.watchuseek.com/f21/seiko-j-vs-k-worth-66291.html swiss made stamp has been too loosely use by the swiss makers.... For my jdm models, no prints made in Japan on the dial but there's printed on the case back.... It might make sense that movement and a few bits are made in Japan! For the j model the the whole watch cases in Japan aka made in Japan. Too much controversial on j vs k. Enjoy the watches while it last. Peace out.
