Auto is common, hi beat takes more engineering

hi beat reserve is 55 hours

the auto model i looking at seems to have slow gradual appreciation whereas hi-beat only retain the values

the auto model i looking at seems to have slow gradual appreciation whereas hi-beat only retain the values

cant go wrong with both so to me they are equally good. I like the longer PR of the 221 and the gorgeous cream dial.

$$ appreciation don’t get a GS then. Go for Rolex.
GS grade are build to last, my in law quartz credor still running after 30-40years

This is understandable as hi beat takes more energy to run as compared to a lower beat movement, so if the mainspring used for both is the same, the PR will be lower for hi beat

GS for appreciation??
I will take the hi beat over the auto any day if all else being equal.

One of 2 microbrand pieces that's stayed in my collection after recent culling - think over the years I've realised that while I think Zelos is a great brand and Elshan is one of the nicest people in the industry, the designs just do not hold my interest over time. They're just not as "timeless".

One of 2 microbrand pieces that's stayed in my collection after recent culling - think over the years I've realised that while I think Zelos is a great brand and Elshan is one of the nicest people in the industry, the designs just do not hold my interest over time. They're just not as "timeless".

I like this. Very simple and clean. Is the finishing good?

Yep! I think in general people do agree that the finishing is very decent for the price range (which is slightly pricier given NH35 movement for this version).

Something to note though - my copy is version 1. They're onto version 3 now, with tweaks made along the way which affect the cosmetics somewhat. I think version 2 is the most terrible version as it looks distorted/bulging out. Version 3 is a good middle ground - they bumped up the dial size 2.5mm from V1 to V2, and reduced it 1mm in V3. The lugs on V3 are more curved and they upgraded the movement along the way to Miyota 9015 - so probably a good time to buy. I personally am considering if I want to move to V3, but find myself preferring the smallest dial look - more "vintage" and unique.

I think it's great that they keep refining the watch to try to improve it and make it better, even if they don't always bark up the right tree.
