way I see it, the best way to get a good watch is 2nd hand, research and understand the watch's quality, rather than just make brand name purchases

very cool, I can appreciate the feeling.
I have a fountain pen with some copper on it and though I like the "corroded" effect, I also like to see the copper shine, so what I do is like every few months, I'll polish the copper and give it a lacquer coat, then let it naturally oxidise again as the coat weathers away

"best of both worlds" i suppose

I've been looking at the Octo case for a while - love all the angles and faucets to it. And of course, the Genta influence.

But the Octo Finissimo line, while gorgeous is just a big too large for my liking. When looking into smaller options, I came across the 38mm Solotempo and interestingly, 2 38mm Octo Retrogradi models released in 2015 that didn't quite get much attention. The latter were reminiscent of the Gerald Genta Octo Bi-retro (jump hour, retrograde minutes), but stripped down into something more minimal. So Genta all around, but simplified, and more subtle - really appealing to me. Happy to finally pick one up yesterday.
