Jean richard/Alpina/MKII no value or resale value. I'd rather buy seiko

brand new brand mah, but got GP movement. must have a few years to wait and see.

watch looks nice though, different from many other options in the market.

edit: just found out that the movement may be ETA based... Zzzzzz

Agreed.

If all we want from our watches is resale value, the JeanRichard Terrascope will not be a good choice as it does not use an in-house movement nor does the brand have a rich history like Patek, nor is it currently very well-known.

But if we want a solid well-finished sports watch with a unique shaped case and bezel that is different from your dime-a-dozen diver watches, I've yet to come across any Seiko that looks even remotely close to the Terrascope. Maybe I have not looked hard enough ... ?

This is the beauty of items like timepieces, it's not just the item itself but the also the significance behind some of them. Whether it's an heirloom or bought in commemoration of an event, or just to pamper oneself, I'm sure most of us have a story behind at least one time piece.

The story behind the purchase is the justification we find to make the big purchase... Haha. ...

if u worry abt resale value u shouldnt even buy a luxury watch.

if u buy wear and appreciate.. no problem.. just pass it on to your next gen.

depreciation is like at least 30-40% once its on your wrist.

Thank you! I'm not concern about resale value. Have bought three high-end watches this year and all three have poor resale values (an Omega Constellation diamond for the wife, a JLC and this Zenith). Brought this up only because just a few posts before I posted, there was some chatter about buying watches because of resale value. Seriously, 99.99% of watches depreciate though with varying degrees. If you want to make money, then buy a simple Casio, get rid of the car and invest the money!

Thank you! I'm not concern about resale value. Have bought three high-end watches this year and all three have poor resale values (an Omega Constellation diamond for the wife, a JLC and this Zenith). Brought this up only because just a few posts before I posted, there was some chatter about buying watches because of resale value. Seriously, 99.99% of watches depreciate though with varying degrees. If you want to make money, then buy a simple Casio, get rid of the car and invest the money!

but.... cars is another hobby leh......
I dont drink, dont smoke, hardly go out also. Not much fancy dining also.
Just cars and watches.

I have given up on cars, because driving here has become a nightmare [too many people driving like they were 85 years old....] The money saved by not obsessing about cars can buy a lot of nice watches [and bikes...]

I have a 3717 which my friend mortgage to me thinking of 3777 but nothing much different in term of look, other than the 42 vs 43, date displays.... so pulling my horses.

Initially I told myself 1 PO and stop but after PO, I wanted a decent office wear watch to replace my citizen, got myself a Exp2. Soon, saw the new superocean, thinking it looks good with jean n now a 3717. How to stop at 2?

Ok lah how fast can one and does one really need to go? Nowadays I also use cruise control most of the time. Keep to left lane and relax lor.
Actually i also hardly drive. Stays very very near to an mrt station, almost on top of it hahaha. Takes train to work also.

1) Special or Limited edition with GREAT DEMAND

2) Dont wear, keep inside box.

Only can make money from that above situation.
