I'm looking for a dress watch recently. Budget is less than 1k. I have short listed cyma and seiko. Kinda favour towards cyma as it is not so common like seiko. Does anybody out there know about the build quality and is it worthwhile to buy that brand?

don't know anything about cyma and i only see them in city chain and city chain prices their watches high? For below 1k, can get tissot leloc or visodate, add a bit more can get tissot powermatic; for seiko many choices, most featuring their 6R15 movement will fall into your price range but probably must buy from online sellers from japan..Other brands that is within your budget also got Mido, longines, hamilton to name a few...

I did come across a few hamilton watch but they are all above 1.3k. The design of cyma looks good but i do not know how reliable is it compare to seiko which is renowned in watch industry.

cyma is so rare that none of them wear it before?

Size wise, mako XL is bulkier than mako. so it really depends on your self, if you like bulkier watch. and as you can see, the fonts and design of mako xl is more crammed up compared to mako which is more spacious. personally, i prefer XL more than mako.. but I'm going to change the straps to thick brown leather. so mako may end up nicer than xl. :D

oh.. I bought my watches from bras basah. do head down to take a look before you purchase it. i wanted to buy the blue one at first after seeing so many of the photos from WUS. and I ended up with the black one when I see them side by side.

i'm not too sure how much I'd paid for the makos as I bought both mako and mako XL at the same time for 400. Don't know if that's a good price though. but since it's so cheap, the savings won't be much... at most 20 - 40 bucks? so my take is, if you see it.. and you like it, just go ahead and buy.. unless they really over charge by a lot.

Fwah. Orient collector! Very nice indeed!

Now for the Orient Star and Royal :s13:
nah... I'm not earning big bucks.. don't have to carry a branded watch around to show off. =P however, the next watch that I might buy is seiko monster. most probably getting an orange one. so instead of spending so much on a single watch, where I have nobody to impress other than myself, I will be spending money on different watches to suit my daily outfit. :p

i nearly got the seiko 007, but somehow the design just doesn't appeal to me. so i ended up with 2 makos. but as I mentioned in the above post, I might be getting a monster next. most prob getting from amazon though.
