Correct. Reproduce below my earlier post on what that ideal watch is like:

1. net price around S$6-7K
2. versatile - will go with both typical office wear and casual wear
3. less popular/common brand is HIGHLY PREFERED
4. designs similar to Rolex/Tudor etc with large numbers on the bezel are out
5. online purchase is out - must be able to view/try locally
6. WR is not important - just wetness from washng hands/rain only
7. fashion brands are out
8. automatic

A couple more:
9. new. don't want pre-owned
10. don't care about resale value. Buying it to use, not buying with a view to selling.

I was scratching my head about what watches to recommend and this popped out! ANONIMO!

Love this: Militare Chrono-AM.1100.05.005.A01 | Anonimo

Beautiful and I love how the crown is at the 12 o'clock.

Prices? Ain't too sure... But I do know that Red Army Watches brings them in.

Would personally love to get one too!

Hey you're right. Acquired by China Haidian. Well, this one's off the list then. Thanks!
.

Eterna also acquire by them, don't mean anything much. They just want to own the distribution in Asia spec china. Operations still handled by Swiss. Citizen also bought La Joux-Perret and Arnold and son. La Joux Perret does movement for Baume & Mercier, Raymond Weil, Louis Vuitton, Concord, Corum, Hublot, Montblanc, Eberhard & Co., Panerai, Graham, Franck Muller, Paul Picot, Girard-Perregaux, Carl F. Bucherer, and Jaquet Droz etc

Actually, if you guys are considering JLC at around the 'lower end
' Reverso price point, why not consider the Ultra Thin Moon 39? Its not as iconic as the Reverso but it is a beauty and even more beautiful in person:

I would have bought this if I was crazy enough to fork out another $2k+. I got the Master Control instead. Everytime I see this watch, there is a slight tinge of regret not buying it. Or maybe I should be grateful I was not crazy enough to buy it!

I was wondering why this is called Master Ultra Thin Moonphase? :s22:
Both the case and movement thickness of this watch (case 9.9mm, movement 4.9mm) are thicker than the Master Control (case 8.5mm, movement 3.3mm).

i would still think Espada as sporty, Ultra Thins would be their dressier pieces imo. the blue version is sweeeee

Well, yes, dressy is probably not the right word to use. Let's say I'm looking for a dial with one or two sub-dials - something a little busier than a typical dress watch. Two sub-dials look good. Three can be a little too busy. may take a bit of time for the eyes to register the hands and tell the time.

Mind saying the RRP of this moonphase?
I can't quite remember - around $12.500 to $13,000?

Red Army does have some interesting brands. They may be a bit too adventuroous for me. Nevertheless, I have Red Army Watches bookmarked. Thanks!

China Haidian may buy more watchmakers after Corum

The background to China Haidian

Interesting reads. But for the money I'm looking to (possibly) spend, I don't think Corum will work for me (even without the Chinese 'strategic partnership'). I have difficulties getting 'El Pimero' out of my head!

Go with EP then. Just bought one a couple of months back and loving it! :)

Made a quick google check of several moonphase watches including brands like ALS, they are all thicker than this JLC moon. But the Breguet Classique Series moon phase watch comes in at 5.7mm! It may be 5.7X the JLC price too.

6-7k budget how to look at moon phase from ALS, JLC and breguet.
Even GO is above your budget.

Try a nomos Gmt but ad here may have to order it since low demand.
Only can look at frederique constant slimline manufacture moonphase for a Swiss inhouse movement

Try a alarm watch from vulcain

Leaning heavily towards Zenith now ... the Pilot Big Date looks good ... anyway I'm travelling now so can't do anything

Noooo... out of so many nice models from Zenith and you choose the pilot??
Pilot go for the german makes, not zenith.
EP, espada or windsor all look good, not the pilot :s22:

The Espada and Striking 10 are indeed great watches - but the former is a bit too dressy and the latter is out of my budget, unfortunately. Busted my budget on my last watch and the FC won't take too kindly to another unbalanced household budget:s13:

These three are fascinating though:

Pilot Big Date

What do you guys think? Still keeping the wallet close to me. No rush. There may be other gems out there waiting to be discovered.

These 3 along with the 38mm EP Chomehead mentioned which looks like striking 10 (which is the wrong photo I posted earlier) are all excellent choices.
The limited edition black/red EP is an eye turner.
Personally I will got for the striking 10 or its similar 38mm EP.

That's so true. German makes a better pilot! :D
If choosing a pilot, I say go German and get GO Senator Navigator. :)

Agree, other options from Zenith will be better. If I am getting a pilot, I will look at IWC.
