Good to know there are some 216570 fans here. May be making move on mine really soon.

List price in the market is SGD 10,580 with discount ranging from none to about 10% (best I've been offered thus far).

natas' piece @ SGD 8.5k is really competitive, but still a few hundreds off from a grey piece, which can typically be had from SGD 7.9k upwards to SGD 8.3k. For overseas sets (grey), you really shouldn't have to pay more than SGD 8.3k.

So which is your poison? Black or white? While the Polar is beautiful, I prefer the phantom hands effect and how the hands and indexes (made of white gold?) reflect light on the black 216570. Can never go wrong with a black dial too.

i think both also nice in their own ways but i will prefer a black. im thinking of going in as well... but maybe during mid sept. still looking ard first.. :D

Got the watch in 2010 or 2011 in SG. Initially wasn't looking for Rolex, cause my perception of Rolex was for old man :D Went to my AD friend n he showed me this white explorer 2. Found it good looking and white dial which I had not owned any white dial so didn't compare much on the price and paid up.
It was only released at Baselworld in 2011, so you most likely bought it at a time where it was sold a premium. Looks like your discount factor was better than I thought. But of course, gotta factor in the price increments over the last 2 years.

What's your wrist size btw?

Ya local AD. My friend working there told me, the price is good and my targeted price for a new watch was about 8k, so I didn't bother to spend time to look around and bought it immediately :D

Different ppl different beauty.... U have to go the shop, look around n wear the watch then u will know whether u like it. The black dial also not bad looking. I went with a friend who was looking for a watch. When he saw the sub, hulk, he immediately liked n bought it which I dun really like the color... :D
Hulk is nice, but probably won't be my first Sub, if any. But definitely better-looking than the 16610LV imo.

It is somewhat frustrating that most reviews are of the white one. And while I was briefly enamoured with it, I didn't develop an obsession towards it as I have with the black one. I've been looking, and probably looked enough, will make my purchase by first week of September I hope.

btw which shop u went?

Should be Raffles Cortina...if age is not catching up...I only remember I took a train till City Hall. I have been working in oversea for past 10 yrs, seldom shop in town. Went back jio my AD friend, met him for lunch n went to his shop. Bought my watch and left for home. :D

I am worse than a tourist in SG. What Universal Studio, what casinos, I have not been there  Ion, I been once because I needed to amend my SQ air ticket.

As mentioned u should go look see look see... both have its appealing factors. :D

Ya the discount should be good, cause my friend said that else I will kill him :D I dunno my wrist size, but should be considered small.

guys new here..

any opinion about this watch?

IWC Schaffhausen | Fine Timepieces From Switzerland | Collection | Pilot

Looking for a long term wrist companion, but price-wise should i get this or save my self some cash and get a good looking speedmaster day-date?

I have the older version, 3717 and it is 42. This 3777 is slightly bigger at 43, should be able to get around 8k. Some will like while some will say mod 7750. To me, I am not very technical guy so I go for the look.

Repost watches I currently own.... all affordable and less than 10k.

Save up for a speedy day date or hoot a grey zenith EP
Zenith | Collectors Time

That iwc is based on a mod 7750.

The 7750 in there keeps extremely good time --- unlike the shockingly awful record of some of the IWC in-house stuff. Pay twice as much and get something one-fifth as good. Though to be fair, you could probably say that about many in-house movements.

Anyway I agree, he should go for a Zenith. Not just in-house --- *good* in-house!

I sold away my 3777 because I find it too small even at 43mm. 3717 will be smaller. Hard to find new 3717 now. There is one bro selling a preown set but mint condition at sgroc. You might want to view the watch on Yes wrist first.

Generally prefer the look of the 3777 to the 3717 (sucker for that altimeter-styled date window), but size-wise, 3717 for me. Do note that not only is the 3777 upsized in diameter terms, it is also generally a watch with a thin bezel or huge dial, translating to a visually-bigger watch (for myself anyway). Do try both on to see which you prefer.

If you're not entirely sold on the look of the 3777 or have a modestly-sized wrist that may not pull off the look, then my advice is find a minty pre-owned 3717 will do.

A better value will be one of the Zenith Pilot watch like the Pilot Big Date: Zenith Watches

Comes with see thru caseback so you can enjoy the EP movement. Only Zenith can have the word 'Pilot' on the dial. Bracelet/strap version to choose from. And I'm guessing you will have enough money leftover to buy something else.
