There are times when you DO want to let others know you are wearing an expensive watch. Your watch is an extension of the impression you project. It is not as obvious as your personal grooming, clothes or, very importantly, shoes. But when you are moving in certain circles, you'll be surprised people will look at your watch. Your employer/job may require you to project success! For some, this is a daily necessity.

curious to know which jobs require you to wear expensive watches to project success?

Not all agreed
I don't. If I have to fork out an unusually large sum of money on a watch it has to be Swiss. Period. OK, I'll consider German if nothing Swiss fits my needs but a German does. A GS, no matter how amazing it is, is still a Seiko = Japanese. I'll be reluctant to pay anything more than $200 for any Japanese watch. Just me - to each his own.

Exactly the reason why i die die dont want a Omega, Tag, Tudor, Tissot, etc. The douche image that many Swiss/Euro brand carries put me off. Dont get me wrong...I love some of the Euro brands(Nomos, Glashutte, JLC etc) but some others are just..... Its a shame cause these makers do produce some fine timepieces just the image is bleh.

I'm lucky my job no need to project image.

I think if u are talking about a GS selling at more than 10K. I will never consider buying it as with that kind of price, I can easily get a good Swiss brand watch.

Successful ppl wear fake also can project that image. How many ppl ask to view watch.
I wonder what job need to show that? I rather the person take me out and wine and dine throw how a few grand then show me a few grand watch that belongs to him.
That's a projection when he can afford to spend

Yep, that's precisely it. Fabulous watches on the inside, like something grandpa wore to his funeral on the outside. I'd consider one.... if I were planning a trip in a time machine to 1963.

got so ex here? GS dun cost more than 10k la (at least for the leather version, not a fan of steel bracelet). The cream GMT dial is about 6500 sgd when i checked at Thong Sia Seiko.

It is at a value point entry with the kind of finishing you see on a PP calatrava.

If more than 10k, i rather buy a ultra thin, honestly.

Marketing. Is why two watch of the same kind can be sold at different price point. Why a watch that cost 500 to manufacture from a particular brand can sell for 20000, while another that also cost 500 to manufacture can only sell for 4000.

Swiss watch alot of money spend on marketing.

Flip BT , alot of advertisements on Swiss brands.

I hardly see any ads for Grand Seiko locally on BT.
