Thanks Henabi and Andy0601a for the information on Arbutus!

Btw, can you share what is the damage for this model?

I saw on Arbutus FB page that they are having 20% discount at Tangs Orchard and Vivo till today.

I'm feeling the itch to go down and have a look.. :o:(:s22:

most welcome :D

compare the pricing first.
Always remember that upscale shopping centers like Tangs and Vivo will limit the amount of discounts they are able to give.

Other places for you to view Arbutus NY
- Bedok Central shopping center
- Raffles Place Collayer Quay Level 1 watch shop next to the escalator
- Mustafa
- 3D Trading Bencoolen
- AS Time Keeper Far East
- Bee Kah People's Park Complex

Watches are very personal, so it is important to find out the wearer's preference first. Is it for yourself or a gift to someone else? What type are you looking at? Dressy? Sports? There's many types around. How old is the wearer and what's her style like?

Important to know all these as to find the best one :) For example, I'm a lady but I have no qualms spotting a pilot watch but not all ladies will like/pursue this choice.

While I am not too familiar with prices of most watches in the market right now perhaps I can give suggestion to styles or some brands?

Some other questions:
- What kind of movement are you looking at ? (Automatic or quartz etc)
- Does it have to be swiss made or you are open to choices?

way to go!!! :s13:

GS the truly understated brand. To many it's just a Seiko but to the enlightened, it's a mechanical marvel :)

I owned 6 or more seikos... But To pay the dough for a GS is quite not practical in term
Of value.. Just my opinion

your choice very wide...

Chrono and Pilot...

If Swiss-made:
- Tudor BB (5K i think)
- Omega Speedmaster / Seamaster (7K range)
- Zenith Winsor
- Tag Heuer Monaco
- Breitling Navitimer
Question mark will be Rolex Sub. brand new regular Sub iirc is around 10K. Sub with date will be around 11-12K. Maybe Yatto or All in a Day or Partyn can help out on the pricing?

Ahaha! Lady's watch ! As in strictly lady lady or open to unisex and some men's models?
Can be men's models

Well done! very comprehensive leh! Just to chip in my 2 cents. For 2-3k price range, ladies watches can go 2 ways. Really depends which one your lady prefers. I think 1st option is more common..

1. Go for the brand recognition, "usual suspects". Nevermind quartz or auto, more important is swiss made. At that budget probably like tag heuer, omega constellation (not sure of prices these days still can make it or not), longines, B&M. These brands are conscious of the market esgment that I described and are happy to serve it. They have the watch models that fit the budget as well as look elegant enough for most occasions.

2. "Watch enthusiast" perspective. Must be mechanical. Try to squeeze out in-house movement or heritage design (micro brands even more attractive, unique and show your taste for good value). Or go the pre-owned route, got brand + got mech movement, more bang for buck but only if don't mind 2nd hand. Like what VW did, can get a rolex at budget prices.

Was thinking of dressy until i saw this

I was thinking of a large round face leather strap watch. I have had small and slim watches (Skagen).

My friend said white easy dirty. I'm not exactly someone who takes good care of my stuff. So now I'm having 2nd thoughts about getting a new watch. Maybe just get a less than $500 watch.

No preference at the moment. I'm a designer so I'm more particular about the design more than anything else.

Seven Friday are normally around the region of 1-2k if I am not wrong. Saw a used one going at around 1.1k. If you like it,try it on first because it has to fit you nicely. :) Anyway I saw this at ION Orchard but I forgot the name of the shop.

ARBUTUS New York

Problem now is.. I don't dare to adjust the calendar as I'm afraid of scratching the watch :s22:

Looks like I have to meet another trip to Vivo tomorrow during lunch time for the SA to adjust for me.. :o

japanese movement not swiss. I came across seven friday today while surfing too ..interesting design they have. very curious how it will look on the wrist too but I have to highlight its a big watch at 47mm and thickness ard 13mm if I recall correctly. retails 1.3 k to 1.6k odd if im not wrong depending on models.

you might get better quality watch- better movement etc at this price pt but I guess when ppl consider seven friday its really aesthetics and design rather than movement. I think it might be a fun /conversation starter watch.
