Having a wild thought now.

Do you all think it is silly to buy an old rolex dated in my birth year for $2k+?

The watch would be at least 35 years old with one year warranty from the pre-owned shop.

Conditions look ok but not sure if there's been any servicing history.

It's perfectly fine. I've been eyeing 50-year-old pieces. Down side is that parts are rare so there might be problems if you need repairs. In terms of servicing, there're some reputable shops out there that still services old/classic watches including Rolex

That's pretty clear. She has a <1yr old Omega Constellation with diamond markers which she probably wore ... maybe twice?

I have a JLC and she thought it will be nice for her to have one too. This one caught her eyes:

Fortunately, even the quartz version is priced out of her top price range.

Is that a hint for you to top up the difference? :s13:

May i ask if you all if buying stowa is good. I am saving up money to buy it for my birthday (or rather just an excuse to buy it :s34:). I am looking at Stowa Fliger with blue screw.

I have a very noob question to ask. :s34:

How do I close a thread I started? And if once the thread is closed by me..meaning it's locked and no one can view it?

Why is that so? Wouldn't the gears be more worn out, metals oxidised etc in an old watch

I think olden days had better watch maker and the mindset of watch companies nowadays are toward more profit so only way to up the profit is to cut down on the process flow and material cost.

So that's why some very old watches still are still much value by watch collector.
