Never thought choosing a watch can be this excruciating.

I think I know why so painful. Money no enough! :s13:

In my books. Pelagos no fight.

hi to all the watch experts here....my wife 30th birthday coming in 2 weeks.....i have a budget around $1k......can you guys recommend a couple of watches around that price range?

she likes big watches.....those aviator kind, or there is this sevenfriday watch also her type.....but i think its way overpriced....

can recommend pls?

share with you my experience with 7fri, when I first got to know about the watch I thought it looked pretty cool and all.

Tempted, even went to try etc. What stopped me was the size, simply look too big for my wrist. But I am glad that I didn't buy - the excitement for this watch in me died down very fast and now I don't even miss it or regret not buying it.

it might or might not be a hype. its design is it's biggest asset and biggest enemy in my opinion- people either love it or hate it.

But end of the day, most important is if it will please your wife. If it's something she really want badly, she might be disappointed if you give her another watch- even if it's good looking and all.

in short, and in the lingo of this thread:

make sure the watch is "SEXPENSIVE"

LOL

all the best, pal!

ok guys....just managed to narrow the search...haha...my wife said she want a statement watch or a lady watch......silver metal strap kind.....

any ideas?

if u can stretch a bit more....longines do have some ladies watches in the dolce vita range that MIGHT be within budget.

but VW's recommendation of ventura is very good.

Pelagos has the best marketing/product combi that explains the majority of recommendations u have received thus far. To me its also an implicit n indirect nod of approval to rolex, tudor's parent company

On mobile. Hard to paste links. Missus says WG nicer, but I prefer the RG.

if it is meant to be SEXPENSIVE, then WG ;)

but I prefer RG also
(may I hold your hand now?) :s13::s13::s13:

on a serious note, maybe it's becos I'm looking for a RG watch so i'd go with RG. I also feel dress watches shld be RG or YG with brown strap. sorry but WG looks like....steel.

wg for the missus and rg for you ^^

i would say wg like your missus. zeitwerk itself does not conform to the normal watch design. i feel that rose gold suits a more classical face design whereas the wg tones down the 'different' design. but end of day you like rg go for rg.

W/o seeing any pics:
WG = subtle, understated + option to dress down due to it passing off as SS

RG = dressy and more bling

Depends how u plan to wear this watch in general

*Edit after seeing pics, WG or specifically the combination of WG and the Black Dial probably works better for this watch, although I think my earlier comments continue to be applicable considerations too :)

Here's my latest acquisition! An Orient Star GMT. I was eyeing the beautiful UN GMT but at 1/10 the UN price, this one looks just as good :D ..... thanks to you guys and the hype here about Orients. Its a handwound, the bottom crown adjusts the internal 24hr bezel and the top crown winds and adjusts everything else.
