Back to selling of the luxury watch image. To you it is crass, vulgar, no heritage/originality. To others crass and vulgar = bold, fashion forward.

Taking it a step further, PP, AP, VC = traditional, original to some but dated, blowing the history trumpet tiredlessly to others.

Some new money guys deliberately avoid the holy trinity and jump straight to an RM, embracing the snub they get from the old money folks and showing support for a watch brand that is reflective of their status in society.

Others the exact opposite, hoping to gain acceptance into the old money clique.

For most people (old and new $), they just get everything simply because they can afford to :D

OK, that ends my TLDR post about selling watch image

fashion is a dirty word when it comes to haute and decent, respectable horology and is anathema to the entire ethos of watchmaking and watch appreciation because it here today, gone tomorrow. it belongs to disposable cheap quartz watches. taste, design, yes. fashion, no.

these jokers are not called brand *****, ignoramii parvenus for nothing. these pariahs are to be educated, failing which are to be isolated, despised, ignored, and if necessary spat upon and b!tch-slapped to exorcise the demon of crassness, vulgarity and extreme bad taste from them. only losers like them feel proud to embrace the snub when the entire social ladder is laughing at their bad taste.

better to donate money to charity than support the agents of bad taste! there's enough ugliness in this world to afford another gangsta-rapper/movie star/athlete/baller/etc sporting a chunky over-encrusted diamond rolex/rm/hublot.

This may sound like CSB but.....just helped a fren get a PP. 5726. Below 50k. The SA really gave me face......

I shld just bloody sell watches. Another fren may be buying another cartier tmr.

Final count i've recommended starting dec 2013...

Cartier: 4 or 5
Rolex: 9 or 10?
PP: 1

Even to me this sounds like CSB. But hell, it's real. Money is really falling from the sky, just not above my head.

have you ever considered the pp 5726 for yourself? i find the dial nicely balanced & symmetrical. plus apertures for day & month are the staples for annual calender complications which pp is renowned for (if only universal tri-compax were still available new, sniff sniff) or were you more keen on a power reserve complication which is why you got the pp 5712, iirc instead?

ps. your friend should give you an nice ang pao for the huge savings he received through you - especially during this festive season! if i'm him, it'll be a minimum $1,888 ang pao or more just for the goodwill & good luck. good things like good discounts received through friend's efforts must be shared.

I preferred how "messy" this 5712 is. the 5726 too regular.
but now I really wished I had gotten something with a leather strap - the watch face looks more obvious than buried with the steel bracelet.

anyone knows where i can get aftermarket leather straps for the 5712?

bite the bullet and get original leather strap with the signed calatrava cross deployment buckle.

btw, wanna get the calatrava cross cufflinks in solid 18k gold to go with your french cuffs L/S shirts? around $8k for a pair iirc, lol.

better than plonking that amount on a cartier love bracelet (no diamonds hor), heheh.

Go to PP Boutique ?

I think your 5712 deserve the original strap....................;)

I think u make the correct choice of getting a stainless steel bracelet as it's much cheaper than getting just the bracelet next time.

I know where it is. Asked prices there a few times before. We go to mbs for lunch quite frequent as well so quite familiar with the place.

Yes almost bought a preowned steel oysterquartz, But the servicing costs may be a problem.

Doesnt look integrated. There are pinholes by the side of the lugs.

hmmm... i mean to say that unlike normal lugs that jut out from the watch case like a pair of horns that pinches the springbar, integrated bracelet designs like the nautilus, ro & oysterquartz has it somewhat in reverse in order to have a seamless continuity from case to bracelet as the photo of 4 nautilii on a rolled up magazine above shows. the leather strap will need to have a notch to accommodate a piece of the bracelet that juts out from the centre of the watch case.
