Sg rich-poor divide is quite world class.. Unfortunately.. Sigh

So you'd rather pay taxes than buy watches? I've lived in Sweden, where the non-stop topic of conversation is all the things they could have bought if it were not for the ridiculous income taxes they have to pay, to support their famous egalitarian society [which, by the way, they are dismantling as fast as they can]. That's what ``narrowing the gap'' means in practice -- what else could it possibly mean? Lots of fancy watch shops downtown....and nearly all of the customers are foreign tourists.

Well Singapore is going that way, so you won't have to ``sigh'' about the plight of the poor downtrodden working class for much longer. Enjoy buying the fancy watches while you can, boys!

be careful when you've your heart set on the speedy.

the hardcore purists will insist on full original pattern with the hesalite (aka "atas plastic") crystal.

but know that while it is shatterproof compared with sapphire crystal to satisfy an essential requirement for space missions, it is a horrible scratch magnet.

so unless you're prepare to always have a tube of polywatch to rub over the hesalite crystal to "heal" the scratches, i suggest you consider the speedmaster "sandwhich" which has sapphire crystal for both the watch crystal and display caseback.

at least it'll be scratch resistant and you get to admire the movement.

it'll cost a bit more but my choice will be for the speedy sandwich. hesalite and polywatch tedium just don't do it for me. authenticity here is over-rated, imo.

Great to read your post, I had also been deliberating over the 3570 and 3573 for some time reading other contributions from various watch forums. Got the Sapphire Sandwich in the end.

To anyone considering this Speedmaster. Buy whichever you like, Hesalite or Sapphire - you still end up with a great mechanical watch that has good tradition and legacy :)

The elite of the elite I know has 7 cars. Cheapest is an S class. Most exp is a lambo. 2nd is a bentley.
And no, he doesn't care about watches and even flies on economy. Because cars are his only passion.

Very down to earth guy, started from scratch. Even when we meet for lunch at ION we both take the train together to and fro.

never go poison him! :s13::s13:

I am not saying we go the way of sweden but let's just say that i feel that singapore can certainly afford to do more for the poor which does not necessarily lead to us turning into a socialist state

Its still looks refined w strap but would personally go with black strap for silver dial for a more dress watch look.

Minor correction ? :s8:

hopefully man. have not worried this much since the last time DJIA shed 500pts in a night.... in 2011 (july ?). too many triple digit losses lately.

nonetheless, just be a bit careful. and hold on to cash.
