I used to think that way too, until i tried them out extensively. Lol..

I will get another ALS first although the steel PP 5960/1a is extremely interesting.

Some highlights:

The Swiss brand, Aquadive, was popular in the 1960s and 70s and, as their name suggests, they specialized only in dive watches. Huge for their era, sturdy and affordable, Aquadive quickly became the brand of choice for recreational divers. Their innovative Time-Depth 50, with its integrated depth gauge and electronic movement cemented Aquadive’s name in the annals of great dive watches. Collectors hunt for Time-Depth 50s in good condition but, given their age and regular underwater use, they are scant.

In short innovative brand short lived and killed by the cheap jap transistor watches. Their 60's and 70's watches are well known and they have real innovations on the design of dive watches e.g. US patents and industry first mechanical depth gauge. And I suppose you can say that their history and value is validated when recently some forummer uncovered that there are faked Aquadive vintage watches today

The relaunch of the brand focuses on historic faithfuls and unlike others who have to start with new parts, Aquadive is known for their "New Old Stock" using stocks of parts that have lived on til now.

Take the NOS 77:

this is based on a 1977 model with PVD on lower half of case. The case, bezel, and case back and AS automatic movement* are vintage genuine NOS parts originally manufactured in the mid 1970's in Switzerland.

*The NOS self-winding 21 jewels Anton Schild Caliber 1902 movements are regulated to 20 seconds a day, due to age and features of this particular movement. They have all been disassembled, oiled, cleaned and serviced by our master watchmaker. They are the movements that were originally used in this case back in the mid to late 1970's. The vintage date wheels in the Anton Schild movement are white with red digits. Back in the 1970's, it was a common feature for date wheels in terms of legibility. So to stay true to the vintage heritage of this model, AQUADIVE did not switch the date wheels over to modern black versions on these vintage movements. With the modern ETA 2836 Elabore movements, the date wheel is black.

and you have the option of choosing an AS movement or the more common ETA.

Mai poison me leh, I work somewhat hard enough... need balance for my family and kids at this point in time as they are young.

I prefer the 5990/1a though, more sporty. it looks a bit cluttered though with chrono and travel time functions.

Have you seen a really hot lady wearing revealing clothes with a rose gold daytona? Throughout the whole dinner I had a hard time deciding which to focus on, the lady or the watch..

U hit it on the nail, I work in jeans and polo, for weekends bermudas, tees or polo ... Formal wear only at weddings but at my age, my peers mostly all done with weddings. no chance for dress watches at all

look like a old beng also so dress watches are definitely out as well lol
