Thanx for the reminder. I shall smash this watch up now haha. :s13:

Actually I'm buying this for my dad. Bought him a rolex and he doesnt wear it daily. He feels its too expensive to wear around. So get something which he will wear. And i dont think he will fancy a G shock hahaha

With the steel cufflinks which are actual movements with rotatable rotors.

Similar size. Totally different feel.

Colleagues also thought its a lot more expensive. One even guessed $10k. Ok lah he's not familiar with watches.

Folks, I know ladies watches get little airtime here. I have a little knowledge about men's watches but close to zero on ladies watches. Want to buy a watch for my wife.

Budget < $1000.
For daily wear to the office.
Watch needs to look 'executive' but still ladylike. That is, no men's watch please.
Do not want all gold piece.
Must be available for purchase locally. Want to try.

Is there such watches out there?

I really like the second hand on Ball watches. The logo makes it look really good. And the lume is really a plus.

Yup. I like the sec hands too. I thought it was a crown of some sorts at the base, until I read it's "RR". Pretty cool.

But I can't say much for the marketing by Ball. It's feeling they are trying too hard to break into multiple watch styles with too little signature niche. Generally, I love the Hydrocarbons.. Until the blue bay (my pet name for it) came along.

for me i hate the ball second hand alot. cuz most of their watch have clean simple lines. till u see the back of the second hand with all the curves and messiness of it.

The Hyrocarbon line is really good looking. It's sporty, fierce and yet suitable to be worn in the office. Ball watches are quite good value for money too, especially if you're ok with buying used.

For their marketing, I think they're trying to market it now as a military watch, considering how they keep advertising it with the US' pararescue

The budget is really comfortable. You've any idea what size of watches she like? The bigger or smaller ones? If she is fine with the bigger watches, Yatto's Orient Bambino is a contender. They do have a silver version IIRC.

Some other brands you might want to consider include Titus, Seiko (especially their Seiko 5 line. Some really good looking watches that are at the low end of your budget) and Tissot. I think this should still be within your budget.

Ball has some of the nicest case backs... they really took effort in designing the case backs as well as improving the ETA movements in their watches.

Although some of their designs are not as eye catching, but their price point and workmanship are comparatively top notch too. :D

My Ohio is just +/- 3 seconds a day when i got it last month. Initially very skeptical of the brand, but it settled in as worthy brand in the end... :s13:

VW...now you know why I made that comment yesterday right?! :s13:

I won't be surprised if Yatto were to wear a urwerk/MB&F/ALS and Orient together and his colleague guess Orient pricing to be in the 50-60K price range.

Not really into watches?! yeah right... =:p

I'm sure some of his colleagues must be thinking (After knowing hwo much the orient cost): "Holy shiet... this Orient is only $200++?! Why would Yatto be wearing such a [cheapo] watch?" :s22:
