Great testament of Orient watches. They'll either stand firm on the price they guessed or up it after they feel it for themselves

tbh... Orient executive watches like Bambino and Orient Star Classic do have the appearance and workmanship to command that kinda of pricing.

and we're lucky that Orient is producing high quality watches at very affordable price range. :s13:

The budget is really comfortable. You've any idea what size of watches she like? The bigger or smaller ones? If she is fine with the bigger watches, Yatto's Orient Bambino is a contender. They do have a silver version IIRC.

Some other brands you might want to consider include Titus, Seiko (especially their Seiko 5 line. Some really good looking watches that are at the low end of your budget) and Tissot. I think this should still be within your budget.

Yep sizing its important when getting the watch. The Bambino is a men watch and sized at 40mm. But nowdays the lines of men and women watches are blurred. So it depends on the individual..if you are strictly looking at the ladies model den bambino might not fit the bill.

But do take a look at the physical watch - you might just change your mind. :)

Share more about this brand ? :D Looks good hehe.

Looks good eh, they have an exclusive retailer E'Collezione @ Mandarin Gallery.

Quite a young brand but gained a following very quickly. Their watches are mostly limited to a double digit numbers like 88 or 99pcs. Their initial pieces like the 3-timer or The One were more entry level-priced at around 4-5k but lately they have focused more on their higher end pieces.

You can find out more on their site below.. but enter at your own risks... :D

I think they are likely to up the price after they feel and see the watch itself. Bambino's domed shaped dial and mineral crystal are hardly noticable in a picture :)

Having a wild thought now.

Do you all think it is silly to buy an old rolex dated in my birth year for $2k+?

The watch would be at least 35 years old with one year warranty from the pre-owned shop.

Conditions look ok but not sure if there's been any servicing history.

Yes, I ever asked this question to a watch maker and he told me that the mechanism in a old watch is more reliable as compared to the new one.

How much did you get your Bambino for?

We both got it at $210.

I feel its good value for money. Everyone I asked was shocked at the price. The domed crystal is something that really makes the watch quite nice.

I once had same crazy idea like you. Ended up buying Omega Seamaster as my birth year watch.

Although now I am pretty happy with the purchase. Solid auto movement.

I know that servicing in future is going to be expensive 800+, which is more than the price I paid. So before taking plunge you might want to think about this first.
