Also had this issue with lvmh haiz. Paid lump sum to service my grand carrera. Came back with more issues and fingerprints on the hour hands. Had ro return twice, each time waiting 2 wks before get back. In the end gave up n sold the watch.

My experience with LVMH was the opposite. My Tag Heuer 500m rubber bezel flaked, and they agreed to send to Switzerland where it was replaced (quoted me $500+ at first!), plus they changed the crown and gave another year of warranty all FOC. The counter staff painstakingly helped me put my whole use history and complaint into the small form. Because the computer had limited space, even helped me pencil in additional comments. Same lady called me back to collect the watch. 1st class service.

let me GPGT:

BTW the scratches is really deep scratches which i don't think polishing will remove.

That is horrendous!! Just email them and explain to them the facts that you got it on what date, they were closed etc, now you are overseas etc. Fight to the end man..this is totally unacceptable!...hence my LOL-ed reaction to iV3RsOn's post below.

time to go RSC to

Funny man! I actually LOL-ed at my office desk.

Yes, it's Polywatch. I think I saw it at JW watches before. You can call and ask.

But you might try toothpaste or autosol first. Many people have reported success with them. Autosol can be bought at any hardware store.

Tooth paste works? Wow I didn't know that. Thank you for the info!

But there's no such thing as over polishing for acrylic right?

I've read that toothpaste may blur out the acrylic. So success and failures are both present.

If the crystal is too old, polywatch may be a little harsh on them too.

Definitely will cross their mind. But a really professional company will check back with their staff that did the servicing. Maybe they will find out the staff is new, maybe even had made similar mistake before??..you never know. Depends how mangnanimous they want to be. Is that a white gold case? If steel they may just change the case? I dunno..

Just email them, who knows they may even direct to send the watch to an overseas service centre to have it dealt with.

they will if they choose to, and nothing much i can do either. its their brand reputation at stake anyway. i am not very much bothered by the 3 scratches that i die die will want to get it removed also.. but the 3 scratches will be proof of poor workmanship to future rolex buyers around me. :)

Good condition really? No idea not v experienced with vintages. Haha but considering this watch is older than I am and it's still working haha. How does the gold and silver polish work?

different people look for different things in vintages, but for me the two most important are clean edge lines and even ageing/patina if not clean dial (which yours has).

i'm not so worried about surface scratches as it can be easilybuffed off with with something like this:
Autosol_Gold_and_Silver.jpg

Simply apply with a clean soft cloth and rub away!

***take note this is very different to the more common "metal polish" counterpart which has rougher polishing grains and will leave fine scratches. Same goes for toothpaste... there are different types of abrasives for different purposes. when in doubt - test on on something else first.

edit: you can try using Gold and Silver polish on your plexiglass too. just take it easy, go light and be patient!

Bought my first Rolex Lady DateJust (pre-owned though!) from HJ Watches. Now I find myself switching from bag crazy to watch crazy. There is so much to learn in watches & movement & etc! Not to mention, there are so many watches I want to get but not enough $$$! Haha...:zonia:

pics please!

Why don't you call and then ask for an email to send the photos to. Can tell them you were in a hurry to get the watch and fly off, now you are overseas. You might want to post in some dedicated Rolex forums such as sgroc to get more advice. By the way I don't own a Rolex and never used their services so I'm not the best person to advise.

Eastern Watches - China

Hi RWC (regular watch collectors),

It is time to showcase the Eastern watches from China. Found this complete box of 1960s mint watches which all made in China while I was on project in some secluded place in China.

I like one of them which is a military issue watch. Hope you guys learn something today.

Good morning everybody! Sharing with you guys my new hoot that arrived yesterday. It's a 1970s vintage favre leuba that I won with 50 usd on ebay. Plenty of reburished dials out there but I managed to get this with original dial- with original hands and movement too. Intending to change the strap to blue :D but just making do with the black now cos it's too loose for me.

Nice, was on a vintage buying spree as well...
