Spotted a woman wearing 7Fri in the train. Don't think it's anyone here though haha! It actually looks quite nice.

Can anybody recommend the best place (physical shop or online) to get sea-gull watches?

Seagull.sg

You can google seagull singapore and you will be able to see.

Just went to their boutique at Adelphi, their seamaster is in stock but end up never getting them. They felt very flimsy and I feel their qc of watches suck max.

Yup, I checked out their website, but the prices seem quite inflated from eBay.

this is a very nice design but its not original - pretty much a standard design in the 70's for diver watches. Nonetheless a very interesting move by omega.

mainly because they already had a successful design in the omega PO, but were losing a lot of sales to the microbrand divers who in the last 3-4 years had been selling lots of well designed vintage inspired watches (e.g. squale, aquadive, helson - with much better features/materials and value). also prices of vintage watches has been increasing due to rising global affluence and awareness of watch collecting.

I actually like the design and think love the watches during the 70's era. But the choice of the colour of the lume has been controversial. critics point out that this is chosen to give a false sense of aging - a "faked patina" - a blatant attempt to get back into the heritage divers/vintage watch game. (and rolex fanatics say its omega trying to reclaim a history it gave up LOL)

so no one knows how this watch will pan out - will it be seen as a new bold relaunch of classics business that will pave the way for other new new-old-style watches? or will this just be a one off?

regardless i think its a very nice vintage inspired watch.

Everyone is going retro for design inspiration :s13:

I hooted my Pam after about 7 months. Though I really liked it, mentally not prepared to pay so much. Sort of forgotten about it then suddenly after about 7 months just happened to google and found someone selling overseas set BNIB at good price in March ...was God-given opportunity so hoot ah! :)

ya man it's like that sometimes.....

actually I do have a few watches which I have been eyeing for the longest time; and just yesterday I found a superbly good deal online thru a reputable grey merchant - for a watch I have been eyeing for a decade. In the morning I sent a message asking for more details, and he replied very efficiently.

Then I brought our daughter to see the doc due to viral fever, decided to buy it after we got home. Guess what? The watch has been sold. Within 24hrs of posting. That's how good the deal was.

Any regrets? of course not. our daughter comes before the watch :D

Ok this is a gonna be a spoiler post.

I saw a thread in EDMW that I could strike a chord with. Few months back, I was very into searching for my ideal watch to somewhat celebrate my life of some sort. Got married, got my own place, doing decently well in my career. So I thought why not, look for a piece to commemorate. After all I've gotten mass market watches for various reasons in my life.

So I made a conscious decision to research, search, compare. Was a long half year before I went for my Pelagos. It's a fine watch, my most expensive single purchase till date on a luxury item. Obviously ymmv, but it was significant to me. So yeah, I bought it, loved it and of course still loving it. It's on my wrist now as I type this.

3 months passed, some sort if emptiness and guilt inexplicably set in. Especially when I see families that are less well to do and feeling happy with just basic necessities. And here I was with a watch that I wanted to "commemorate" something. Of course the easy thing would be to say "sell it away and give the money away to the less fortunate". I'm not ready to do that. And that's probably exerbated the guilt.

Sure we all need motivations to keep us going. But is materialistic gains the only way?

Just a food for thought on a hot slimey Saturday.

Very very nice. What's the damage?

these you can get for around S$3K for good condition, and colour. seems like in the 70's there were a lot of dial colours to choose from, unlike today.

*good for vintage means you can see visible use and ageing marks on casing, hands etc. very good means almost new condition.
