Rachdanon,

I believe that the original strap from the 305 is the same as my 389. I measured the thickness of it with my vernier caliper and it is only 4.15mm.

The closest strap that I can find is from HKTan, which has a distressed cracked texture, unlike the OEM strap where it looks smooth until you bend it, and that's where the cracks start to appear.

HK Tan's distressed cracked leather strap:

My customised HK Tan's distressed cracked leather strap is about 4.55mm thick, slightly thicker than the OEM strap and it is a bit stiffer as well.

If you are interested, I believe Hobbylink has some left. HKTan may have ran out of this leather, as he is already promoting something else: Accessory Vendors' Market: FS - NEW - Vintage Cracked Brown - NEW

Good luck!

oh sorry auntie. LOL

ok I actually bought a black and a brown one from watchlink.

I just measured and the black one is actually thinner - 4mm the most. The brown one is much thicker, like 5mm.

and yes, after trial and error I think black strap looks better on the 305; or just my preference.....

Oh, so same as the one strap god is talking about..I think why we think the black looks better because it compliments the simple black and titanium colours on the 305 giving it the cool no-nonsense look, brown adds another colour which has a different effect altogether...I wouldn't say it's not nice :).

Hmmm, ok if I decided to get from hk tan, will instead take it off you.

305 no leather strap leh, only some Kevlar like dive strap that is super long and wearable only if you have like a 8 inch wrist or something. Wonder what Yato thinks of it....

Oh so hk tan one is quite like the oem one. Will check it out, thanks!

no problem..... I thought I would like brown straps (vintaged/distressed type) but end up the black ones look best to my eyes when mounted on the 305.

anyway I have a few straps coming in..... trial and error still.

that kevlar or dunno what extra long strap is for us to use as a belt lah. LOL :D

Oh, I didn't know that the 305 doesn't come with a leather strap.

Anyhow, my 389 came with this leather strap... you can get it from Panerai. Here's the link: Bracelets and Straps for Men Watches: Officine Panerai Watches Accessories

whats your budget? mind 2nd hand/grey or only want brand new? functions you looking for? materials you looking for? style you looking for? with these might be easier for the bros here to help you with.
i think my budget would be up to 1k. but i wouldn't mind stretching a little. seems like bell & ross isnt really favoured upon when i was reading up on it.

i'm still quite new and not really good with watches. i don't mind a grey set, 2nd hand is ok but i'm worried about not getting authentic parts inside etc.

as it is more of a daily beater, i think i would prefer automatic rather than mechanical? not too big of a preference though. would prefer it to have the date function too. style wise, i actually thought of splashing on a 2nd hand explorer/gmt master II but decided against it. something along those lines or like the bell & ross 123 would be nice.

was looking at brands like steinhart, sinn, baume & mercier... any other brands/models would you recommend?

Don't get BR. Seiko is a good choice. 1k can buy pretty good mid end seikos.
If I were you,I'd just save up few Ks and get a rollie man.

yeah saw quite a few nice mid end seikos. btw any local shop that stocks them?

besides seiko, any other brands you have in mind? haha i'm quite reluctant as it is a daily watch and a little flashy for me atm... :o

I think for 1k,seiko or orient would be your best bet. Tissot is within your budget too but I don't really recommend it.
