What do you guys think of Rado? The gal is eyeing a ladies ceramic watch :s22:

Her skin is allergic to steel. Can only wear gold , silver and bronze stuff. Ceramic is another one. If not i was thinking of a cartier santos for her birthday in a few months time.

So comments on Rado ? TIA

did you even check out the watches in the link? The watch I posted is like the pilot homage yatto bought from aliexpress a few days ago...there is no logo but the design elements are copied.

I don't think you get the point...

I am talking about your mentality as a person, not just the post alone.

Micro brand experts. Any comments on Magrette Dual Time?

i'm no expert but i'll give it a go, more knowledgeable experts please chime in:
MAGRETTE+Dual+Time+01.jpg

- excellent vintage diver inspired styling
- miyota movement: bulletproof, no issues with servicing in future
- interesting internal bezel: don't find this often now, but its really useful less complicated than a GMT (but also less useful)
- sandwich dial + brightest c3 lume

You don't expect less than the best from this brand, which is grounded in providing value hi quality time pieces, and has strong focus on styling and finishing (see their other
the-timepieces-moko.php

And with Magrette you will expect the highest quality and
- excellent customer service (Dion responds to emails promptly)
- if the same as previous, a wonderful package: box, leather carrier with two compartments (strap/box)
MAGRETTE+Travel+Case+01.jpg

Only word of caution is that Dual Time here is only 12H dual time - not 24H and so without day/night indication. But I guess most of us use our smartphones for that!

Magrette have always released limited editions, I'd expect this to sell out too, especially that green one!

I can attest for the quality of Magrette. Great value for money. But I find the height of the leather pouch too low for big watches. Unable to squeeze my magrette inside the pouch.

Thank you for the round up. I'm thinking of getting the Black Face SS, no confidence in PVD. How's Miyota compared with ETA 2824?

Hi watch collectors,

I am looking to purchase a pair of watches which can be use as wedding gift, something that can hold sentiment value as it age. But the budget not very high, only around 6k for a pair.

Need not be exactly the same model, similar looking will do. Have to be automatic, prefer not too sporty kind, but chronograph is fine.

Have been looking at Longines models but was thinking what other options are there. Really new to luxury watch so hopefully can get more ideas on what is out there.

Thanks~ :)

Hard to make a comparison with eta 2824 as there are too many grades and versions available, but i think there is general consensus that the 9015 exceeds the basic 2824 grade/version.

Since its launch a few years back, the 9015 has proven to be a solid piece of work, no surprises, no hiccups, just reliable and performs as it should. Emotional acceptance has lagged, but I think this is just due to habit and tradition.

Perhaps more importantly, in one or two years this is going to be a moot point as the Swatch group ends external sale of ETA movements. Personally I think this is the wrong move, as the Japs will now conquer the movement market and will be able to grow using the 9015 which I predict will become a microbrand favourite.

More details of the 9015 here. If you go by tech specs and pictures alone (no branding), you might just think it as a swiss movement.

I think what he meant was the highest grade or brightest grade of lume used.
Got C1, C2, C3 etc

yes thanks. c3 is rated brightest by the manufacturer, superluminova. seiko has their own lumibrite (sp?).

i don't know of any technical comparisons as practical and perceivable brightness is complicated by application technique e.g. area coverage, number of layers, contrast with dial colour...

seiko is bright, but to my eyes panerai could be brighter (esp the sandwich dials), rolex more pleasing a glow.

Anybody bought hands and or bracelet from yobokies before? Was wondering how come his website doesn't indicate the prices. Any idea how much it costs for hands alone? I have already emailed him.
