Wow thanks and noted! *salutes* I basically prefer larger watches and my TAG Aquaracer is at 41mm so hope the Sub is not smaller than that.

On paper the subs are still 40mm but the enhanced lugs make them wear bigger. So better to try it on for a feel, same goes for other watches. Like the rest said your budget allows you more and better(?) choices like AP, JLC, etc.

But just because you have a $30k budget doesn't mean you have to use it all up till the very last cent. In the end it's a lot of trying on and see which speaks to your heart. If you are happy with just a rolex then go with it. If you are open to others then perhaps you may be able to find a better fit? Watch shopping is always exciting for both you and us as spectators. :D

For photo taking purpose, I didn't like the original black strap haha. I think brown goes well with the white dial. Where can I get good quality 21mm straps locally? Online ei know there's a lot but cos I am leaving SG soon, I would prefer physical shops

It's going to be a tad tough to find 21mm strap. You can consider getting 22mm and squeeze into the lugs. Won't be much issue. Gnomon watch among other shops have a good physical collection of straps.

Thanks for the advice! Yes will try on different types to see which fits best, so have to really carefully select as it's only once I'll get to spend so much on a watch.

Not easy to find 21 mm straps. I have a couple of watches with 21 mm lugs and I use 22 mm straps on them. Gnomon Watches have a good collection of Rios straps (okay quality).

That's very detailed and also roughly made me made up my mind. I just one a one solid piece of Rolex that does not need to be so bling bling. Right now I have a TAG Aquaracer, Seiko chrono and a few G-Shocks but want a really good Rolex to top it up.

Guess my choice would be just the divers series but the Deepsea seems rather chunky.
A solid piece of Rolex worth around $30k would narrow it down a lot. Looking at precious metals models mostly.

I am assuming you are a one watch for all occasions type of guy, and your lifestyle probably does not include being dressed formally.

They way I look at it is, Rolex is known for making the best tool watches money can money, at any price point. Not many watch brands can come close, let alone surpass the reliability, easy serviceability, ease of use...etc of Rolex (especially with the new generation bracelets).

A precious metal Rolex is a statement piece. Buying a precious metal Rolex says you've got money to burn. You're saying screw the practicalities of a Rolex watch, I bought one that functions exactly the same except that it that costs 3 times as much and 1/3 as practical. Precious metals are softer and the suffer dings much more easily. If and when you want to sell it, you will lose much more $$ than similar steel models.

With $30k budget, I would definitely approach it differently. I'd buy a steel Rolex, and probably something like an AP RO or JLC dress watch. You get 2 well-respected, well-made, different function watches, instead of just one that might have some negative connotations.

But whatever you buy, show us!

Anybody knows which AD have GO watches? Saw the Seventies Chrono in a magazine and instantly fell in love. I'll be in Germany next month but would like to try it on my wrist and also check out the local prices.

30k is a wide window, can consider AP roo range like chronograph, safari, panda. Or get a AP diver, might still got change for a rolex sub. Dress watch can consider JLC or zenith. Want something even flashy? Hublot King power comes to mind. Alot of options and enjoy the hunt bro.

you can go Sincere, THG and look see look see... don't be afraid to ask alot of questions

Remember:Not only is it important to find a watch you love alot but it is also equally important to be served well too. If you feel uncomfortable with a SA, request for another SA. As simple as that. ;)
