Is it really cheaper direct from Steinhart Germany? Of course the other consideration is local warranty and servicing.

Oh ya! Typo. Really cheaper. Servicing wise might be a chore. But so far, no issue with my nav.b, had it for a year plus.

112 is a troublesome watch, no seconds.
The manual wind also need service frequently

I understand the ADs and Boutiques in Switzerland are the best stocked in the world because many tourists feel the best experience of buying a Swiss Made watch is from Switzerland. So tourist dollar is the thing there. Well, being well (interpreted as over) stocked only means discounts could be good there. Don't take my word for it though.



Not just that, the thing I like about Rolex is that they are the few who refuse to be acquired, remaining private/family owned. I understand the founder actually wrote some legal thing/will that prevents Rolex from ever being bought/acquired... don't know how true. Breitling is another tough nut to crack and of course Patek.

That's because Hans wilsdorf holds the shares and placed it in a family trust before he died.

Company long term goal cannot be overwritten by stupid shareholder's desires each and every desires

hence BOD can plan business strategy better than swatch group

There would be many other analogies but I would liken Rolex to Sunkist in terms of the strength of the brand association/acceptance with their product category of luxury watches and oranges respectively.

What is "luxury" is obviously subjective but that's another discussion.

If noobs know what is is, too many people have it and it have millions of copies.

it's not too much of a luxury.

yes. If you underwind you won't know it until you step out in the open.

If you overwind you will damage the mainspring

absolute rubbish watch.
I was one and half hours late for dinner event because of this.

get something with second hand

Personally I find the Pepsi colours cheesy for a luxury timepiece. On a run of the mill Seiko model, maybe. I'll take the standard black. Really to each his own eh bro.

My preference will always go to automatics.
Much more reliable.

you won't get screwed if u underwind.
If you wind up for max 40+ then forget to wind subsequently, it's oso a problem

Pepsi Or rootbeer GMT are the only pieces I'll consider to have in my collection for Rolex.
Maybe the Cellini.... But then I don't really need anymore dress watches.

Need to appreciate the gmt master history to like the pepsi. It is 2-tone for a functional purpose

Lol automatic more reliable but all high end pieces are hand wound.

No issue with my 005. Manual winding gives you personal time with your time pieces by winding it.
I always wind till I feel resistance and stop. Lasted me 56 hours.
