Your wife should understand. All guys should have a timepiece that represents him. As some bros suggested, try to reel her in by showing her some watches. Omega constellation for ladies are really nice and of course rolex sub or gmt for her.

Micro rotor supposed to cater for thinner movement and hence thinner and sleeker case... will be an interesting direction for Panerai.

I find it hard to reconcile 'can only have one' with your $30k budget.... nvm. Then make it a dam good one.

Well perhaps shouldn't put 30k, maybe even 20k is enough. Just like a good timepiece I still prefer Rolex to PP or JLC. Will get pics up once I acquired it, but in a few weeks time.

Forget the price, or even the brand. Chose from your taste, style then talk about price. If it's theRolex sub, you've saved yourself $20k for later when you get your next timepiece or bring the family for a good holiday . It will happen you know (the next time piece ) ...hee hee.

A solid piece of Rolex worth around $30k would narrow it down a lot. Looking at precious metals models mostly.

I am assuming you are a one watch for all occasions type of guy, and your lifestyle probably does not include being dressed formally.

They way I look at it is, Rolex is known for making the best tool watches money can money, at any price point. Not many watch brands can come close, let alone surpass the reliability, easy serviceability, ease of use...etc of Rolex (especially with the new generation bracelets).

A precious metal Rolex is a statement piece. Buying a precious metal Rolex says you've got money to burn. You're saying screw the practicalities of a Rolex watch, I bought one that functions exactly the same except that it that costs 3 times as much and 1/3 as practical. Precious metals are softer and the suffer dings much more easily. If and when you want to sell it, you will lose much more $$ than similar steel models.

With $30k budget, I would definitely approach it differently. I'd buy a steel Rolex, and probably something like an AP RO or JLC dress watch. You get 2 well-respected, well-made, different function watches, instead of just one that might have some negative connotations.

But whatever you buy, show us!

Best couple watch 2 Panerais la. My wife wasn't but got influenced by me....at my peril and my bank account. good thing is me having a watch collection is not frowned upon and we have a common topic. Anyway...I don't see myself getting more than 2 more pieces in my life time unless I pass on to my son or something, don't see the value in selling off. Think there should be some sanity to this watch madness haha..

I was going for the deepsea sea dweller as 40mm rolex were getting too small for me. The dssd didnt have enough wrist presence.

Went to try the pam24 and got hooked. Since already at pam, either go big or go home LOL. End up with the 47mm pam305. Love the see thru caseback.
