HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Today I'd like to tap on the collective knowledge of the experienced pros here.
Sometime in the near future, I'd like to purchase an Omega Speedy Reduced(3510.50 or the likes of), as my first watch above 1k (my humble but much loved collection includes 2 seikos, still a NSF la hehe :s13:).
I have seen some models going for around $1.5k-ish on chrono24 and ebay, my qn is would I be able to get those for that price at local second hand dealers, or would it be much higher?
And also, which second hand dealers would you recommend with a good range of speedy's?

i think if the size fits, the reduced speedmasters are a great way to get into the hobby, and the romanticism of the moon watch.

in the used market they hold their value well so it makes it a sound purchase should you want to trade up eventually.

prices of vintage watches really depends on demand and supply, and part of the fun is waiting for the right one that comes up.

these days i tend to do my shopping online, but if you can afford the time far east plaza and "the bencoolen" (opp sim lim square) are great places to hunt down vintage watches including speedmasters.

Thanks for the replies guys, yeah I know generally the speedy pro's are more reverred and all, I appreciate the history and provenance as well. However the winning point for me for the reduced is it's smaller case diameter, I have pretty small wrists and imo the moonwatch would look a bit too big on the wrists. Also my budget is slightly tighter, thus I feel that for the price it would make a great gateway watch into the "luxury" watch world

you have your answer already.

Can check out the watch forums classified for good deals :)

Also, most of the watch shops are closed till later this month, so will be pretty quiet on that front.

The 6694 belongs to my grandfather actually. It is now with my Uncle since he's no longer around. Thought of buying it over from him and wear it but 34mm by today standards is really too small. It's still a nice piece nonetheless. :) Knowing that you prefer large watches,I doubt you would buy too since it's 34mm.

Not sure how big size u r but 34mm pretty classy still and i've seen it on wrists of 6 footers still look ok (in the right attire)

I have a small wrist - around 6.5 inch. Would probably feel better with a 36mm. :) Maybe it's just me though.

My wrist is about 6.75" Feel it's ok.. But need to be abit dressy attire. Casual attire the size not contemporary enough.

I would need to try them on my wrist to see but i also feel 34mm may be a bit smal on me. I've a pretty flat wrist that looks better eith big watches and makes "small" watches even smaller.
