how to get my hands on one of these? no stock available on their webby..

this is a ltd ed pc, no longer available. I think i saw someone selling on carousell. you may want to try there.

interesting post.

i suppose as this is a generic forum one can expect the posts to gravitate towards the most popular brands and models.

for me the watches i'd like to see more often:

- hamilton (really great value with real swiss movements)
- citizen (world's biggest watch company)
- sinn (exceptionally designed and engineered)
- zelos, armida, margrette (support asian microbrands)

and also quartz watches in general. undecided about smartwatches, though at the moment i kinda feel its more an accessory to the phone.

I'm also into micro brands after i fulfill my 2 x swiss brand for my sons.

Used to own a Halios Tropik B and Magarette. Kinda regretted selling the Halios itching to get he Delfin now. Zelos is another interesting watch. I join the kickstarter for their Chroma and it has been my wife's"go to" watch ever since.

I've been other microbrands like Gruppo Gamma, Steinhart, Maranez etc... All of which are very bang for buck.

Another interesting brand is the widely popular Seiko. The recent 639, 637 & 641 craze... Set my sights on the emperor tuna next....

usually pwr reserve is higher than whsts on indicator.

iwc 7 days = 8 days power.

besides i dunt see it exceeding much

My gripe with the pic wasn't with the Power Reserve, but rather, with the Power Reserve INDICATOR.

Since he bought this watch with his hard earned money, he deserves to have the quality that is synonymous with authentic Swiss watches.

Besides, I'm sure our friend's watch should still be under international warranty so why not let the Service Centre take a look? :)

Received order confirmation email, than realise is US$.

Never mind lah ... just take it as support local watch maker ...

Any watch psychiatrist here? Can cure the stigma I would feel if I wore a Rolex homage, specifically the Steinhart Ocean 1 vintage military. I believe it's a homage to the 5517.

I disagree.

If the watch power reserve is > 44 hours, then its an error to show it at max power reserve

haha true, the best thing is to have a look at the actual watch before deciding, sometimes what we see online is different from the real thing. Sometimes better sometime worst.

I've got friends with fantastic rolexes who still buy the steinhart homages, as travel beaters when visiting parts of the world with questionable safety standards. So that's one justification, at the least!

Don't like that. Haha I waiting for my pebble time. :(
Haha
Not used to Quartz leh
But sovil Titus also got nice watches
Their annual calendar and moonphase quite nice
The time in the Pebble would be determined by a quartz oscillator...

... So perhaps it fits under "digital watch" category like a G-Shock-DW.

To me a spring drive is closer to quartz than mechanical as it's timing is determined by a closed loop circuit.

Confusing times!

Talking about Quartz... the Grand Seiko Quartz is a time keeping marvel with +- 5 sec a year!

Pebble is a great toy to play with. It's more of a notification reminder for me. I also used it as a selfie/wefie remote for my iPhone/N5. :)

well....... may I put this up for discussion?
All mature people here so let's keep it amicable. Else don't blame me for what I'll do to your hotdog. :s13:

I guess a number of you know my wife and I have intention to leave a Patek to each of our children (twins; one boy one girl).

The 5712 will be one (bought about 42k brand new) and we are looking to get another one.
Tried a few, and took pictures of these two just this afternoon.

several considerations:
- similar price. we try to be as fair as possible. as close to 42k as possible.
- patek with complications.

these two annual calendars below are very close to 50k. so pricing is similar.
We could get the nautilus 5726; so both twins get a nautilus, but with different complications.
Same same but different; just like twins :D

Or just get a totally different design. The nautilus is somewhat sporty so we probably could get a dressy one. And in white gold some more, for not much diff in price.

5726

5146

(AND NO I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY BOTH SO DON'T POST THE IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR BOTH MEME HOR .............LOL)

Assuming the 5712 goes to the boy (have yet to seen a girl in a Nautilus). The 5146 looks ok on a lady's hand...

Although I like the 5726...
