Don't like that leh. I don't have the moolah for a Monaco so have to play Autavias - cal.11s and 12s. These are still from a pre-TAG era...

Agree that the 321 movement is integral to a watch being labelled "moonwatch". Aesthetics was the clincher since astronauts had to feedback regarding useability, dial legibility etc - but the movement had to survive the rigorous NASA testing, of which at the point I think only 2 watches passed (don't know what the other one is).

But its a moot point since there may never be another moon mission...

playing with cal 11 and 12 means you are the movement purist that i describe there :) and its definitely on a higher order compared to the reissues.

lets see 'em ! :s12:

Wah, hardly man. I just like vintage watches, that's all.

My (small) stash is split two-ways between SG and France where I'm currently at. Will be reunited in July when I'm back. I'll be sure to post a long-overdue family shot!

however the miyota seconds hand will sweep more smoothly than the seiko, due to a faster beat rate, if that "appearance" matters to you.

Both beats at 21600

Ditto Omega.

And like Heuer, Omega was lucky that they were assimilated during the quartz crisis into SIHH first, and continuing along an arduos journey that culminated in being owned by the Swatch Group, and saved initially by Swatch's ETA group.

So at the heart of it, Omega is the same as Heuer. A company whose owners and watchmaking machinery has been replaced by that of a larger group with financial muscle. This is where brands like Rolex, PP and AP shine .... a continuity of watchmaking tradition unbroken through time.

But I see your point about the Tag's role with Heuer. Being a marketing man myself i see it as a branding problem, and agree that should have left "Heuer" as it is from day one. Like how SIHH and Swatch didn't add their branding to Speedmasters (God forbid!).

Yeap that was what I meant.

Heuer should have been left Heuer all along and should be the designated brand for TAG's racing series.

Look at the old Heuer era Monaco and Autavia series. Those were worthy watches.

Just done with volunteer work. Chilling with my routine ice milo.

We gave porridge, goodies and bananas to households in a rental blocks area since 730am. Then discovered a unit - the uncle is a hoarder.

In all he had 30+ fans, 10+ TVs and just too much of other things....

Hardly 1% of his entire assets

How many of us actually know what is this?
PUB meter for prepaid tokens. For folks who have problems paying their bills they do not have a pub account. They reload a token for their consumption.

Initially we thought the uncle was "just another hoarder" but we were wrong.
Turns out he repairs those fans and even bicycles using parts he scrapped from everywhere. Once they were fixed he'd give them free to his neighbours!

We often judge too soon.

Wow... The uncle so nice. Sometimes I feel, in all the mad rush, we lose those important moments of interactio.

it has a certain updated vintage style that is very consistent across all its watches. maybe its the font:
iu

this particular one is an in house auto caliber, looks pretty nice and unique, and priced really well compared to similar calibers from more established brands:

prefer the pilot look as compared to the more common dress watch design. also i'm missing a worldtimer in my collection :)

this one in particular

QFT. I also do volunteer work monthly at rental flats in a corner of Singapore - mostly very elderly folks, often living alone. One of the common things I've noticed about these truly pioneer generation folks - they may be poor, but they are unselfish, and grateful for what they have. They don't complain very much and are thankful for any kindness shown to them.
Some of them even thought they would have to pay for some of the things we'd try to help them with... and when they realise they don't have to, they sometimes want to give me little things in kind...
;)
