yeah no battery hence the name "spring drive" i.e. driven by spring storage of energy.

however it isn't exactly a mechanical movement, more an electromagnetic device driven by a close-loop circuit and chip. to me its much closer to the "tuning fork" than to quartz.

From wikipedia

The Accutron (right), an electromechanical watch developed by Max Hetzel and manufactured by Bulova beginning in 1960, used a 360 hertz steel tuning fork as its timekeeper, powered by electromagnets attached to a battery-powered transistor oscillator circuit. The fork allowed it to achieve greater accuracy than conventional balance wheel watches. The humming sound of the tuning fork could be heard when the watch was held to the ear.

can you believe that the accutron was developed in the 60's and already provided a 300Hz resonator with no positional differences.

as for the spring drive, swatch was also working on the same technology but it seems seiko reached the patent office first.

Sexperts, can recommend some decent place to get seiko?

Other than k2?
I went skywatch at PPC, they have shogun, but they are selling at 1.2k and sumo at abt 800plus

Is that the usual?or it can be cheaper?any advice?

If you buy online try seiya japan. Sumo about 600sgd of less depending on usd/sgd rate
