After having some deep thoughts and reading what some of the WUS guys have to say, 1st Gen seems to be a better pick IMHO based on this few factors that I have considered

1) The current ETA has proven itself
2) I can service any where with that ETA movement good in the ong run
3) RSC is not going to rip me off on servicing because of its "in house movement"
4) The 1st Gen has cleaner dial

2nd gen is better imo. I'm not sure the availability of eta parts in the near future. The 72 hours reserve is really attractive. Has a better accuracy too. I think the 5 lines is better than the 2 line because the font they use in the first place is ugly. Making the text smaller seems to cover it up a little. I would say most liking the first gen are bitter owners since from the beginning the complaints about the pelagos is that it's a cased eta movement.

Edit: being Rolex sister company, I do hope that some of the technology did trickle down considering there is a similarity in terms of supposed innovation in the power reserve.

I have a noob question for AP. Can you change the steel bezel to rubber and rubber to steel?

U mean buy parts from ap svc ctr? Dun think possible. I tried once but was rejected coting that they dun sell parts.

I'm not a fan of metal bracelets personally, but AP RO is one I would not swap to leather... I find their bracelets too nice to swap out..
