got offered 2.8k for a pre-owned black bay recently.

still thinking whether to go for a pre-owned or brand new. will probably go down to few of the boutiques to take a look at their prices and discounts

from what I know, the price difference between the leather and the bracelet version is around $400

can any bros share whether the difference is really worth the $400? or am I just paying $400 for the Tudor logo to be on the bracelet

Get the bracelet. It's easy to get another 3rd party leather but there's no 3rd party bracelet that fit like the original. Getting an original bracelet after that will cost much more.

Is this the Seiko SARB035? Wish to see it in person but went around City Chain and other watch shop also didn't see it.

Also there's sub-$100 Seiko 5 automatic watches, some of them look rather similar to the SARB035... so I'm undecided.

Too many choices making me confused and disillusioned. Just like too many ciobus made you dizzy and you dont know what you are doing anymore just like gongtao. I think best to choose the most practical one will do. I want to get something that i will like for a long time and not getting tired with it, presentable yet not too plain can go places. Just like how u choose a wife like that which you can rely on yet can go miles with you so that monies well worth. Its not easy man.

Personally I'll go for a Tudor. Similar or rather, almost similar quality to the rolex but at a fraction of the cost. I always felt that Tag watches are overpriced but that's just me.

People who don't know about watches will think Japan brands = cheapo, Swiss brands = Premium stuff.

I think my female colleagues dont even know what brand is tudor maybe they think its fake rolex... but those 5 matches sure recognisable the world over every corner dog or cat. How arr. Gaolak liao. Actuallg why "sister" selling at such a huge discount huh since same quality?
So means that im paying more for tagheuer's marketing than the quality of the watches? Waa like that sleepless liao. But i guess should be overpriced based on how they price their spectacles. Low quality yet costly.

Tag Heuer has pretty marketing, but I think it makes good watches too.

There's a difference between folks in this thread and folks who find it a waste of time to read this thread, especially when it comes to watches.

Depends who you wanna impress I guess.

Didn't appear in Forbes or Fortune 500 or news on local paper, even rich low profile ppl wear seiko5 these ppl wouldn't treat you special.
High status and see your seiko 5 as exquisite timepiece means these ppl wanna kiss your butt! Emperor new clothes story
To butt kisser they will always find a way to kiss no need to dress for them.

There are rich humble ppl and those like Trump! Really depends not all young rich ppl with some status like that.

Yalor lastime i mean 20yrs ago i bought a seiko watch for $100. V plain simple dial. Ended up in my drawer for many years and eventually given away to my cousin. Sorry to all seiko lovers here but i just dont like the plain joe look. Not too appealing to me. How to wear something which i dont even like the look of it? No matter how accurate the timing. Cos i think watches need to combine brand, function and aesthetics well.

Always thought their specs are good in terms of quality (can last at least 2 years).

2 yrs not a problem la still can work if u dont mind the rubber fading colour and silicon nosepads one side hard the other side soft lor. But price not cheap. They reuse the f1 car runber tyres on the specs lei u say atas or not.

But i thought rolex has good resale value becos of its high demand? Anytime sell and take back monies? No??? Pls advise.

But must give credit to seiko lar. Seiko been trying v hard to build up its atas line. Casio also trying the atas reach but not up to mark yet, though their G shocks are doing well.
