I prefer old simply for its dial + lume pip at 3 o'clock.

New has busy 5 liner dial (wtf were they thinking?!) + no lume pip at 3. Meh!

Hahaha I was just at K2, asking about price of the sea urchin and fifty fathom homage. Told Mr Goh that next time, I will bring the parts for the mods, then he can just do it on the spot and I'll pay for both the watches and mods.

Speaking of Pam, I found a site that does great homages of it with quite a lot of customisation options. Best of all, price is cheap yet still an automatic movement.

I think the first weekend the OT500 touches down at Gnomon, we can organise a mini outing there haha!

hahaha i see i see. anw after coming to this thread and being poisoned i have ordered a blumo from Massdrop! Low wage worker that's why i cannot afford higher end Swiss-made watches.

On a side note, my mom has a v old Seiko watch that requires repair. She brought it to a Seiko boutique and the guy told her that the repair parts are discontinued. The watch has sentimental value to my mom. Any bros here can suggest a solution for this?

IIRC, Seiko stocks parts for 10 yrs after production has ceased.

One solution is to find a working watch of similar vintage and cannibalize the parts ... a more expensive solution is to find a competent watchmaker to source or even fabricate parts for it...

You're correct. Well, good for you.

However, OCD types like to set their watches to the second to know how accurate their watches are (don't we all?! ), although a fiddly "back-hacking" technique can be used.

Hi all, like to ask a question regarding my Seiko SRP641 which uses a 4R36 movement. I suspect that there is a problem with the power reserve. Normally, I'll wear my watch from 8am to 7pm, then take it off at home and the cycle repeats the next day. I noticed that sometimes, the Seiko will run out of power and stop moving the next day. I never have this problem with my 3 Orients. I'm not sure if it's because my Seiko just needed more time to be charged up fully. One way to test this is to put the Seiko on a winder for a week, then time how long it takes for the power reserve to run out, but I don't have a winder. Any bro here has another suggestion? Thanks.

Bro xuan87, the 4R36 movement is windable.

Give the stem a good full 40 plus or more windings to charge it up to full, then use your a stop watch/timer on your handphone to time it. It should last 40 hours or thereabouts.

If necessary, send it back to Thong Sia if yours is an agent set still under warranty, or your retailer if it's not.
