hi guys.

any recommendation for shops that deals with second hand Rolex watches?

went to people's park complex yesterday and entered a few shops with decent collection and the prices looks attractive.

but I am still new to such high level brands so what might seem attractive to me might not be to the more experienced bros here.

a brand new sub in the shop is priced at 10,500
a 2014, dec sub in the shop is priced at 9,500

planning to get a Rolex as a graduate gift for myself.
am aiming either a sub or yachtmaster if budget allows.
budget for now prolly around 9k-11k?

would appreciate if anyone can share their experience with second hand Rolex

First up, Congratulation!

As an uncle with very limited means, I would go 2nd hand provided:

1. the rollies comes with full box, papers, receipt, guarantee card.
2. the rollies has been verified at rolex service centre (need to cough up $100+ fee)
3. it's a private individual sale (you can try swx or local rolex forum)

because a shop will usually cost more (has to pay rent & employees).

In your case, since it's a present to yourself for a significant milestone event, I'd recommend you buy brand new from an AD for the following reasons:

1. virgin - you're its first!
2. confirm, chop & guaranteed genuine and brand new - no hidden abuse or damage.
3. new rollies purchase from 1/7/2015 onwards from ADs have 5 yrs warranty.

you can consider engraving the occasion on the case back.

she told me that I need not pay the $107 to verify and instead just bring the card and the watch to the shop and if they do accept the watch, it means the watch is authentic. if not, bring it back to the shop and they will do a full refund for it.

I did went to the boutique ytd to see the watch also. but I think they see I teenager, serve me the face smelly smelly one. two times that I went to the official shop to see, the service was quite bad.

whereas when I go to the other dealers, the service is always very welcoming.

regarding getting a new one from boutique,

but a brand new sub in the second hand shop (are they called dealers?) cost 10,500

I'm actually still quite confused between a brand new in a boutique and a brand new in the dealer. it's the same thing right?

but given the price, if 9,500 for second hand and 10,500 for a first hand. I might consider getting a brand new sub from the second hand shop itself.

the engraving idea is new to me! and sounds like a viable idea as well

U want new or 2nd hand? For special occasion, I will also suggest buy new from those parallel importer who does not have a shop, aka grey dealers. This guy is quite famous in the local grey dealer scene:

The price difference is because those rollies are purchased from overseas ADs. Grey dealers try to profit from arbitrage.

With so many ADs in Singapore, I'm sure you'll find one who can serve you professionally and satisfactorily. Go ahead and share with them that it's a milestone present so they can see it's significance to you. A professional and empathetic SE will work with you to help you part with your cash to obtain your dream loot. I know I would.

Before you drop your cash, try to find out as much as you can about the product, if only to enhance your appreciation of it.

Take note that once you engrave, its value will drop of you try to sell/flip it off later. Do so only if you're absolutely sure you'll keep it as a milestone present.

I still feel for a prestige milestone present, you should experience the prestige purchase & fitting experience at an AD - but that's just me.

Why don't you bring you dad or a knowledgable adult along?

Oh and since you can readily afford, walk & talk like you own the shop. Rmb: the SE commission depend on you. Make them earn it!

My choice for the yachtmaster would be the deep blue face dial. Gorgeous!

Try the usual grey dealers. Great people to deal with if you are polite and smile dont lan si ( attitude)

Chuan watch, watchlink, gr luxury are some. Google and you will get the website. I am not related to them btw. You can get preowned or brand new from them. ( might need to order)

yes actually I'm still quite awhile from graduating yet. but am setting a goal for myself before I actually graduate. and I will definitely achieve it!

unfortunately I do not have any knowledgeable adult that I can bring along with. so have to rely on all the knowledgeable adult in this thread for information

i'm looking at the blue ym too! but unfortunately most shop only carry the white one from the one that i went to ytd.

Envy those youngsters who havent graduate and already have 11k spare cash to down on a Rolex.

If I were you, I'd definitely get it first hand from an authorised dealer and let them serve me until gao gao. Plus you get the peace of mind that you are getting the real deal, with ample opportunities for you to ask them countless questions. That's what I see the price difference as -- paying for the service and peace of mind.

Agree to the max. Wanted to get a Rolex before I reached the big 3. But went for PAM instead. Now thinking to get a rollie to mark a new milestone in life - getting married.

Not sure if that's gonna happen (Me buying the watch), but at least there's a goal...
