Did someone mention kanji? This was my first watch and it was from my ns pay.

Many years ago, one seiko club member posted his pictures of his visit to seiko museum in Japan. Spotted something similar to mine and I told myself I must go there and see it myself.

Just last week, dreams came true

for those interested

saw this gmt model from ball at a discounted pre-order price

lol can get to choose your limited edition number

sgd2383 (maybe have to add 7% on duties)

http://shop.ballwatch.ch/ball-for-bmw/bmwlimited

Waaaaah. Okay noob question but is Ball good? Cause I heard it was an expensive brand but don't know if the quality is worth it. Ball is surprisingly one of the brands my husband knows. :s13:

ermmm depends on your definition of a good watch lol

everyone has good different views on what makes a watch ,a good watch. as long as it's a watch u like, it'll be a good watch

for this model,
it's cosc hence accuracy will not be far off.

it's limited edition n u can choose the limited edition number of your choice(maybe can use your wedding date or his birth date)

got dlc option for the case if he prefers black n a scratch resistance case

has their own service center in sg

gmt model, ease of telling time when travelling

but do note the waiting time.

Sorry but what's cosc and dlc and gmt (Greenwich mean time?)?

Looks wise it looks like something one could wear daily. Not skeleton but classic looking enough (imo). I like the limited edition number thing though. But pity got no nice 2 or 3 digit numbers that mean anything to us.

Yeah I noticed only ready in October, not an issue can give as next year's present already hahaha.

Ball advertises quite frequently, that's why your hubby knows about this brand.

aesthetic reasons. not coherent design, their insistent on using tritium tube to stand out from the rest has led to many design compromise. ugly logo. ugly second hands most of the time.

movements wise its using ebauche movement from eta which again is as vanilla as one can get. the upside is that it is easily serviceable. i do think its fine to use eta movement if you're a small company but not in balls case.

pricing wise its not really very attractive imo for what its offering, which is too much marketing and too little r&d.

edit: in regards to cosc, its a standard for watches. it means that the watch is tested to -4+6 seconds accuracy a day.
edit2: in terms of resale value if it concerns you, it holds value like shiet. just go look at the ball thread.

Sorry but what's cosc [ a swiss certifying body that certifies accuracy of mechanical movements and the movement has to be within their required tolerance/perimeter in order to be certified - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COSC] and dlc [most stainless steel case are prone to hairline scratches, DLC is a coating that will make the case black and scratch resistance/ scratchproof, but there're some stainless steel case that's as hard as a DLC one] and gmt (Greenwich mean time?) [ this watches have 2 "hours hand" and you can freely adjust the second 'hour hand' to reflect the timezone you're in without losing sight of your home time ]?

Looks wise it looks like something one could wear daily. Not skeleton but classic looking enough (imo). I like the limited edition number thing though. But pity got no nice 2 or 3 digit numbers that mean anything to us.

You sure? the first time both of you went on a date....... the first time both of you kiss..... the first time both of you *cough ahem*.... etc etc... 1st of july can be 0701, 0017,0071.. well, ultimately, it's a number you choose and you choose the story to be put behind the number plus... it's your gift to him :s13:

Hahaha he saw a client wearing and the guy told him how much it cost. Just made me realise that watches brand don't really advertise on TV. Think the last one I saw was Tag Heuer when Lewis Hamilton advertised for it.

Hahaha thanks for sharing this. Especially the last point. :s13:

Hmm but I think it's only gonna show up as 107 which would look weird. Thanks for sharing, especially the GMT thing, he travels for work often so that would be useful. Learnt something new again, yay. xD
