Swimming lessons arh? The thing which i faced most difficulty in doing is floating in water than paddling.

No matter how hard i try to float and paddle i will sink like a rock :(

Black tapes - For any and every situation. You never know when you need them. Tape up loose ends of your fieldpack, helmet, IBA etc. Its also for tactical purposes e.g. to conceal shiny/metallic objects esp your torchlight.

Swimming - If you're worried, there'll be others worrying like you. But swimming isn't really a very big part if i not wrong.

I enlisted in PTP in March now just finished PTP and starting BMT next week.

Black tape is used to tape the loose ends in your field pack, black sling bag and etc, they'll provide you with one but its better to get one more.

You should bring goggles as there will be 1-2 swimming lessons each week during PTP and it'll be sian without your goggles. Those who pass swim need to do aqua jogging which is damn sian so I suggest you act a bit during the first lesson swim halfway then stand up so you are classified non-swimmer if you want to relax in the pool.

Anyway I suggest you not to bring your clothes coz you are adding in to your luggage which you need to book out with, and you'll most probably sleep in PT or admin attire issued to you. But I advise you to buy at least 1 extra set of admin/PT attire so you don't have to keep doing your laundry. You might want to bring a small towel with you to wipe your sweat as you'll be doing lots of PT.

Also bring 6-8 hangers with hanger clippers to hang your clothes and 1 toilet roll in case the ones issued to you runs out during your confinement if you happen to get diarrhea during then.

to give you a "more relevant today" list:
- food stored in tupperware if u go hungry easily
- black tape, usually 1 is enough as they will issue u one.
- Large ziplock bags for your own dirty clothing (yes, they will give S/M/L ziplocks but those are mostly used for your field pack std items so best to bring your own)
- swimming goggles
- copy of educational transcripts/a level cert (they will ask you to bring on your first bookout)
- Toiletries
- Slippers, extra set of Civilian clothes ( wont really get to used it )
- black digital watch
- lighter (for field pack std items)
- Febreeze spray (if you lazy to wash ur clothes or sometimes no time)

and yes, you will be given your SAR-21 during 2nd week of PTP, though you wont be using it much til 3-4th week

haha swimming is not a big worry for me. imma gold star boy boy. but that was like 8years ago?! i worry abt goggles part actually. i can swim without goggles, for like only 30mins. my eyes will start to tear, swell, and wanna close after 30mins. so if the swimming routine is short, i can save my money on goggles

lighter for for one of the ten pack items to be stored inside your field bag, forgot which bag, my BMT was like 2 years ago. It can be used to light solid fuel during field camp.

Food best dont bring during enlistment, as different companies have different book in regulation, some allow free flow of food when bookin in while some restricts to strictly "healthy" food only when booking in. Before your first bookout your company will tell you all all the dos and don't so look out for it.

got food restriction one meh? I thought only the Eagle-kind of Company will have those restrictions one. Lol. The more relevant question is: 'do you think you will have the time to even touch those food?'

Anyway mints is a good idea. Can go to smoking corner and use it to PLP with your sergeants and officers. Its no secret that some people actually make it to OCS thorugh methods like that. Lol. During BMT your specs and officers can see through all your colours one. The only way you can earn real brownie points is through subtle actions like the above.

How you know people get into OCS thru that method?

usually most companies allow dry food, ie. no chocolates, cup noodles etc. Biscuits, sweets are allowed in my coy.
and yes, ipod shuffle/ ipod touch is allowed, but depends on your coy's regulations but i do not know of any coy who will ban people from bringing these. strictly no chargers allowed though

cotton buds to dig ears ar? xP

cotton bud cos u need to clean off your army green make up ma. but got more efficient way, use facial wipes! cleaner faster.

or you can go check out (google it) NSCarePackage, help you with everything u need for BMT n enlistment!

quite cool, saw it on Facebook recently. they teach you how or what to prep, or you can just get them to do it for u, at much cheaper price, plus u dont need to travel already. only need to collect the package with everything inside.
