thank bro, cause i am currently experiencing slight more excessive shedding than usual. If the shedding is due to the working of minoxi in simulating new hair growth, i will be happy. Just scare that actually my hair follices are not healthy which lead to more hair fall. Is a bit demoralising to see high rate of shedding for the past 1-2 weeks...I will remain optimistic....."hopefully".....hoho

Currently i m using nizoral 2% shampoo twice a wk while on other days i m using another brand of shampoo. Bearing in mind nizoral is used for treating dandruff so i totally had no idea y all of sudden i m growing dandruff. Cld it be the kirkland minox's fault?

it quite a common complain to develop dandruff suddenly while using minoxidil. sometime i will get this problem. mostly cause by the PPG or alcohol in the solution. i have no idea is it due to the kirkland. both brand should be using the same formula. maybe it because your scalp is dried by a combo of minoxidil and nizoral 2%.

nizoral can only treat dandruff that is cause by fungals. if it cause by other factor, it won't help to clear it up.

what you can do is to let you scalp rest for a few days and use conditioner. it won't harm to stop for a few days. or maybe you can just use once per day for a week.

scalp health is important for hair loss so try to clear it up. apple cider vinegar, virgin coconut oil, olive oil is good for scalp and danduff problem. you might want to try. but virgin coconut oil is quite expensive but really good. selling at nature's farm at $29 for 335ml.

bought the scalp benefit shampoo that costs 15.90 last week and using it now, but can't really comment until sometime later...was skeptical to try the rest cos kinda unproven and ex....

but biolyn has an interesting concept.....it claims that it doesn't try to reduce DHT. Instead it forms an armour plate on your follicles to prevent DHT from attaching to it.....it also says that women are less susceptible to hairloss cos they have the enzyme aromatase (spelling?) that helps to prevent DHT being formed....wonder if we can inject aromatase??? :D

it sure sounds conceivable though....and its true that women are less likely to suffer hairloss....so is biolyn right about their theory?

but I am a bit skeptical to try minoxidil cos i m afraid it will make it worse.....i was prescribed some by Skin centre but din try...cos i know my scalp will get irritated....

any kind souls that can share home remedies that help? my mum has made some kinda twigs (chinese herb) in barcardi and I applied for a while (i didn't persist though, so can't tell) :) .......read somewhere that soya milk can help to slow down balding while milk does the opposite.....the Japanese claim that baby apples skin can help.....

this is an interesting thread for men...so keep it going....

i don't think biolyn shampoo will have negative effect so no harm trying. yet, i doubt even more that it will do anything for your hairloss. there are several comment on this thread about biolyn. conclusion: most likely it a scum and does nothing. forget about biolyn and move on to proven treatment.

i don't know much about the hormone system. from the little i know, enzyme aromatase function is to create estrogen which is primary female sex hormone. well, if you enjoy growing tits, you can try injecting it. female have less testosterone therefore they are less prone to male pattern hairloss and not mainly due to aromatase.

about 30% of the people that take soya product convert it isoflavones into equol which have some evident that it block DHT. but only about 30% of the people have this ability. so don't bet on it. there are alot of stuffs out there which show potential in stopping hair loss like what you mention. but most is not being tested well enough. so stick to proven treatment first and if it don't work, then try something else. get some minoxidil or finasteride if you are old enough.

you mean the lotion that come in brown box? kaminomoto Gold? tried that quite a number of years ago. only use one bottle. it might help in some factor like reduce inflammation. but it does nothing to DHT on scalp which is one of the main factor so most likely its not worth trying.

there are better product like Tricomin and Folligen which contain copper peptide that is very helpful for hair loss. too bad it not cheap and can't be obtain in singapore except Tricomin which cost $100 for 180ml which is a rip off. but if you are using 1-2ml per day, it can last 3-6months which is quite acceptable for it price. i plan to get Folligen online which cost much cheaper.

unless you are lucky, you need a number of different products to attack hair loss from different angle for a better chance. sadly, this mean more money. in the beginning, i plan to set aside $150 per month for hair loss which cover only propecia and minoxidil(damn the greedy drug companies!!!). as i discover proscar and cheaper minoxidil, i try to push down to $100 per month. with $100 now, i can have around 4-5 treatment. so do your research to cut cost. if i have did that earlier, i would have save $1000plus on propecia alone. guess for the $100, i just have to spend 2weekend at home or work a little more OT. haha...
i plan to cut further by getting proscar from malaysia or "India's prosacr".

in a few months most likely my regimen will look like this which should be within $100:
1) finasteride
2) Minoxidil 5%
3) Nizoral 2%
4) Alpecin C1 shampoo
5) Folligen
6) a topical Antiandrogen either Spironolactone or Flutamide.

not 6items for $100. is after calculation on the cost and how long the product can last me, it should could me less than $100 very month. i am trying my best to keep it below $100 so i don't overspend. i think it is reasonable cost

i am getting from website that have good review from other users. so it should be quite safe.

as my hair is short, it really very hard to tell whether Alpecin is working or not. also i have only use it for 10days. well, even if you ask me if finasteride or minoxidil is wroking for me, i can't really tell. haha... but i just trust the good science behind it and also from feedback of other users. so far the feed back is still rather good. wait for a few more months and see if it will hold up.

where can I find toppik in sg?? thank u
http://www.aremyhair.com/main.htm
check up their product link. i found that they are selling their products at a rather high price. i not sure if other place are selling Toppik in singapore. you might want to order from oversea. if i got any information, i post again.

anyway, for those who find that Nizoral or H&S is too harsh for you. you might want to try products that contain piroctone olamine(PTO). it effect for helping hairloss might be even better than Nizoral. some products that can be found easily in singapore that contain PTO is Manuka scalp care shampoo from The BodyShop and Sebamed Anti-dandruff shampoo. i tried the Manuka shampoo before and it quite good for inflammation. too bad i lost it in camp. haha.. but i bet the sebamed shampoo is as good if not better.

i have never read anything that show spirulina does anything for hair loss.

green tea have some possiblity to reduce type I 5-alpha reductase enzyme while it is type II that is doing most of the damage. but no harm trying as green tea have other health benefits.

saw palmetto have no effect on blood DHT level. it only show to work on receptor sites so there is almost no good evident that taken internally it help in reduce hairloss.

of course there are some natural supplement that might work. but your best bet is using proven method. if you are old enough, get on finasteride. it not that expensive compare to supplement. using proscar cost about $30 per month. it give you the best chance. mess with unproven treatment, you risk losing your hair.

if you are really thinking about natural treatment, i suggest you do your research carefully. no point for me sharing here as you need to have really good knowledge to start. surely no spoon feeding knowledge will help. start at http://www.regrowth.com/hairloss-forums/
they are more into natural treatment.

TCM may help. TCM usually focus on putting your bodily functions right. At the very least, u can be safe from side effects. Heard of He Shou Wu? It can help hairloss....try doing a net search for it...but its not cheap thou...

Isopropyl, do u know which salon near Hougang sell Alpecin C1? Like to try it.... btw, is Manuka from bodyshop really gd? how much it costs? Thks.

i not sure if TCM will help. there are no creditable study and research on this. i hope it help but well, Yun Nun and Beijing101 is using 100% herbal treatment too. go figure.

i not too sure. but i suggest you ring up the distributor at 67463688.

i find the manuka shampoo pretty good. at least it good for inflammation and itch in my case. anything that is good for scalp health somehow contribute in slowing hair loss. it might be a little drying for some. you can try sebamed Anti-dandruff shampoo as it should be very gentle.

forgot to add in. Manuka shampoo cost about $14plus for 200ml. there are also 400ml bottle but i not sure of the price. it around $20plus.

Just another qns...where can I get Nizoral? Any stores selling?
haiz.. this have been answer many times liao. i understand this thread is getting too long for easy reading.

anyway, Nizoral come in 1% and 2% version. the 1% version can be buy in most guardian or NTUC unity pharmacy. for the 2% version, you have to ask the pharmacist for it. tell them you are using for dandruff. i got mine without prescription. they just allow me to have it. i not sure about others as i only brought it once. both come in 100ml bottle. remember you only need to use 2-3times per week.

for 1% it cost around $18.90. 2% version cost about $20-$22 dollars. normally, NTUC unity cost slightly cheaper. CGH pharmacy is selling the 1% version at $15.90. i not sure of the cost for 2% version at CGH.
