so the experienced doc u consulted have taken propecia?. how would they know about the sides. or do they base on wad they read on journals, scientific papers, surveys, books . There are also studies, scientic journals on effects of dht inhibition n propecia which means they may be a consequence of taking it

the big 3 minox, propecia, niz are the only available drugs around to fight
hairloss.

of course a doc would try his best to sell this drug to a patient cause there is no other cure for mpb.

u wouldnt want a doc to tell u its incurable right?

i went to a doc onces to consult my hairloss n all he said it isnt serious now, i can give u propecia and wait until u r ready then come buy. i ask him further about the sides n cost etc n he told me just take it. i m seriously tired of consulting doc cause sometimes i doubt they know whad r they talking about.

yes sir. one of them is a propecia user for many years too as well as his son. they base on studies and patient feedback. there are patient that reported some side effect with them but only a few through out the years and some can be link to other problem instead of propecia;) all the cases reported to him, the side effect goes away after stopping if it really due to propecia.

that not a very fair common isn't it? the statement you make are very generalizing. it like saying 100% of singaporean is not gracious. i do agree many doctor especially those from hospital seem to rush their patient due to overwhelming awaiting patients. but that not the way to jugde base on that. again, it highly unscientific. especially the doctors i mention more or less specialize in treating hairloss.

over the years i have quoted some studies especially the famous swedish news that show finasteride side effect is atcually higher than what merck reported and there are permanent ones. of course i not an expert but what my take on it? the answer is all over the map which make it hard to pinpoint an exact percentage.

1) i believe the actual side effect is higher then what merck reported but for many it does goes away. not sure but just a guts feeling. don't quote me on this.

2) permanent side effect? yes. possible but very low percentage if there is at the first place. still, this have not been really proven yet so i take it as a warning. do note that it been reported by users with very little to no actual evidence to follow up with the claims.

again, i not expert so those are just my guess. i have posted the below study years ago.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17655657
it show how great the placepo effect is and also the side effect is much higher then what merck reported. do take note the result is base on subjects feedback and there is no follow up on their cases to prove that it is indeed due to propecia.

still i have to caution that alot of those side effect studies is not really fair and accurate. like the one conducted by Dr. Micheal Irwig at the moment which most will agree that he set out with an agenda to fulfuill.
i not claiming it an absolute safe durgs but it an durgs worth taking for the risk with it consider it benefit until there is something indicate otherwise. i will say it pretty safe. a drug being used since 1992. that coming to 20years of track record.

for me i also have the same problem with ts.
but it seems that my dad's side all is having this problem but none of them is bald so i can assume its my genetic that causes this problem
i know how painful it feels because everytime i went to salon to cut hair they will say you are balding which is quite ignoring at times. I have tried using shampoo that is for oily hair scape and try to combo your hair though it works a little for me :)

some of the barbers just make a quick comment which i think should be fine. the only types i found annoying is they act like they just found some gold on your head and sound so shocking making a big fuss. another 1 which annoy me is one relief barber servicing me keep asking me until i reply her. she keep repeating you have very little hair until i say i notice too:s27:

my regular barber won't say anything to me. the only time she comment is she keep asking at least 3times did i notice my hair is getting thicker:o i just kept mum. not sure if that is true.

Hi guys...im 16 this year, and i have a balding problem(hair is quite sparse at my crown). It started at least 1.5 years ago, i found out that whenever i come back from school, parts of my scalp becoming really itchy and inflamed and start flaking alot.

it has been very demoralising to lose hair at my age, and i have issues with self esteem because of it.

what do you guys think is the best course of action? is it time to see the dermatologist?

yes. your hair loss could be caused by scalp problem. get that sorted out first will be the best move at the moment.

all i can say is don't bother with it for at least 10-20years at least. forget about reading it somewhere it is 5years away.

remember few years back when we expect HM to be out around 2010? remmeber Aderans, intercytex, histogen etc? as fair as i know Intercytex is dead and the rest is still in trial stage no where close to be release. maybe still in phase 2? even if they go into phase 3, it will take another maybe 3years? after all that wooha, most likely it will take another few more years to reach common people like us.

for the last few years so many promising treatment is dead that i won't even bother listing them. even today i still reading up on new treatment in the pipeline. but i won't hold much hope on it until they are into phase 3 trial. nothing to be expected maybe until 2015 if we see them going into phase 3 within this couple of years. if not, just keep adding 2years:s22:

don't worry. we will be there. just a matter of time:s12:

do remember that the inflammation is cause by dirty stuff that sticks to your hair scalp so always try to keep your hair as clean as possible..
