Isn't this classic case of counter lady giving erroneous information?

Proscar is 5mg of Finasteride
Propecia is 1mg of Finasteride

From what i read, impotency as a side effect of Finasteride is about 1-2% of sample size , however, the effects are not permanent and will go away within 6 weeks of stopping consumption (correct me if im wrong).

So basically she dosn't have any idea of what she is saying.

Btw u asked her to check with the doc, so what did your doc say?

After a long wait she came out telling me proscar is finasteride and the doctor warn me i will be impotent if i consume it. Then i told her isn't the ingredient the same as long as i consume 1mg she say no i will be impotent as long as i consume finasteride and refuse to give me the prescribtion for both propecia and finasteride (which the doctor already signed). After much sarcastic comments about the impotency she persuaded me to get propecia from her which she say is lock in cupboard after paying need to take another time!!! and i left with only the finasteride prescription. @#^#%&@#^@$&

Btw the doctor is also a young replacement doctor, not the regular one that i've seen.

just to reply to some post in general.

firstly, nioxin shampoo. other then it is a good shampoo, it does nothing for hairloss. don't waste your money.

don't waste your money at those hair care centre if your hairloss is due to MPB. you are just wasting money again. cleaning the scalp of DHT is a myth. it does not work this way. those sebum on your scalp will not affect your hair and those that will, you won't be able to clean it topically.

don't expect miracle regrow from minoxidil or finasteride. if it slow or stop your hairloss, it is working great. if you got any regrow, that a blessing. keep using it to 1year mark. if you feel you need something stronger, then move on from there. but at least give it sometime to work.

if you ask me on whether lasercomb work, i will give it a big yes. but don't expect it to work as well as companies selling the comb want you to believe. it should be part of your treatment if you are already at least using finasteride. for most people, laser will give very minimum regrow or only help to improve your exisiting hair condition. but remember MPB is a progressive problem so you need every edge you can get. same as all treatment like finasteride and minoxidil, although they are well-tested to work, most users will hardly notice much different.

as for proscar and propecia, they are the same thing. don't let anyone talk you out of believing this. the side effect of finasteride on 1mg and 5mg is not much of a different. but from most feedback, the rate of side effect should be much higher then 1-2%. more like in the 10-20% range. but thankfully, they go away as time passes for most people.

my hairloss problems had been for few months.

everytime i go to the salon, the shampoo girl will comment my hair is dropping and scalp very obvious le.

im only 24 this yr. i even thought of going to the Bj100+1 or YN.. lucky i come and read here before i made a mistake.

so what should i do?

see a GP? get a reference letter from polyclinic?

get those off-the-shelf kind of medicine? from what i read here, it seems that the propecia causes impotency so i will stay off that.

any advice?

hi, so far i only receive one confirm user that is buying with me, well i receive many question from people. well i can say i am not sure how effective it is but well compare to that comecial hair care shop, buy laser comb which had been proven i worthy. and i also think that price i am going to pay for my hair is not as expensive

i will suggest seeing a doctor if you can't be sure your hairloss is due to male pattern hairloss. if you are certain it is due to MPB, there is only so much you can do. you can get a refer letter from polyclinic to national skin care centre if you need to see a doctor.

it a pity that you can only have 2option which is finasteride and minoxidil. other possible treatment is out there, but you should start with the above 2 first in the beginning.

propecia or finasteride cause impotency in a very small number of people and most of them is able to overcome the side effect over time. so it quite a safe drug to take. don't worry too much if you have to use it.

do not worry , the propecia willl not cause impotent, and the side effect is revisible, please do not trust those without medical knowledge, i have consult many doctors, and they said, is revisible, the side effect of propecia. i myself is a good example. i do not have any side effect, the side effect percentage is v ery low , 5 to 6 per cent ....such as sex libido decrease, decrease in semen , do not worry

yup basically iso has covered all that needs to be said...

u can either get a referral from polyclinic to go NSC or jus call up as a private patient. the only difference is actually u'll pay more for the consultantion. sometimes the wait for referral is damm long & u can't get to choose the doc u wan. so for convenience, i pay abit more and jus go NSC as a private patient

it's still much cheaper than forking out thousands of dollar for those hair centres...

Hi, I think you can try a shampoo with salicylic acid in it to help with your dandruff and scalp acne problem. I can't remember the brand name but it can be easily found in most pharmacy such as Watson and Guardian. You can find them at the hair care products section.

The laser comb is one of the 3 proven methods to prevent hair loss. And its the only one without undesirable side effects, its just that we have to hardworking and actually comb for 15 minutes a few times weekly. I really think spending around $200 on a laser comb is more worth it than on many other hair care centres outside whose ppl are more interested in making a sale(due to the way they are paid). It is also overly expensive, even Jean Yip is costing me 200+ PER session, and its cheaper than 101 or yunnan.

azelaic acid have only show to reduce DHT in-vitro(in lab) and other test show it to be useless in term of reduce DHT in actual world. it might help in other way which we don't know. but the general feeling is that azelaic acid is not helpful for hairloss. don't bother with the serum. you are just wasting money.

if you are interested in apply some stuffs that might help with DHT, one product that you can get easily and have some pretty good backing is Nizoral cream. check out the link below on a recent study on Nizoral lotion. the pic is pretty impressive. i have no idea where we can get the lotion version so just have to settle with the cream if you are interested.

for your scalp problem, one very helpful shampoo is T-Gel. coal tar shampoo. give it a try. not many place sell it in singapore, but you can get it easily in malaysia.
