Thinning Hair problem

Guys, i'm in need of some advice.

The past month 1 n half month was a hell of a time for me, the amount of hair drop during shampooning has increased drastically. B4 is like just a few like 2 or 3 on my hands(not counting the ones that got wash away), but now is more than 10. And when the hair is wet, the scalp is freaking obvious, and it scares me every time.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my problem is not MPB, as my thinning or hair loss applies to my whole scalp, esp the crown. My gp also stated it might not be MPB becos i do not have the initial stage of receding hair line. He also checked my scalp and said it's normal, and i don't have itchy scalp. What do u guys think?

I'm planning to see NSC soon for test after i got a referral letter from polyclinic. This sudden hair loss has hit me really hard, i'm really at my wits end. I tried to tell myself to cheer up, saying that my condition will improve... But when i face the mirror during bathe time with my hair wet... my heart broke. Sorry if i sound like a fool.

Anyone has the same condition as me? I have oily scalp and premature whitening. I hope to get some advice here b4 i go NSC, hopefully someone here might have the same condition as me and wish to share some experience.

However in the 1st month I spotted my hairloss, I thought it may not be MPB too. I went to a GP but he said it most likely is.... i.e. 20% receeding hairline and 80% overall thinning. I went to a specialist to confirm after bout an additional 1month later and he just touch my hair and say MPB liao
Now after 3.5 months of propecia, minoxidil and nizoral 2% twice a week, I still can observe thinning of my hair... Damn no morale to go for job interview, woo girls, u get the pic... Hoping that propecia wld stop my hairloss soon else maybe I go for Avodart liao since it also inhibit DHT in oil which wld help stop hairloss since I got oily scalp? <--anyone experts taking Avodart can advice me bout tis?
Anyway all in all, I tink u shld get a specialist to check for u and go for treatment if needed ASAP.

nay, he didn't juz he said something bout if he finds definicency in some vitamin or mineral he can't tell whether tat is the reason to hairloss or not... i remember he consulted a senior dermatologist b4 giving tat answer to me lo!
there will be a cure but don't koe need hw long more le. Hair clonning is the best and closest answer to it i tink. Intercytex is the nearest to finding tat cure i tink, now @ near the end of Phase II testing for FDA. After Phase III then can release to public liao... but that might take years bah and bout USD10k for the treatment.

Just to share my experience on going to NSC.

If you all remember that I have posted my condition a few months ago in around in November 2007. I suspect that I am suffering from MPB...



Visited to Polyclinic on 27-11-2007
Consultation Fees without any prescription: S$8.70



And make an appointment through the Polyclinic to NSC on 09-01-2008 (about 1 month ++ later)
(I think you can get your appointment faster as a private patient.)

Initially, was assigned to a visiting doctor from another country. (I forgot which country.)
Since the appointment was through a polyclinic, therefore it is not possible to choose the consultant you want to see.
(I think you have a choice to see which consultant if you are a private patient.)

The visiting doctor check the condition of my scape and hair, and call in her mentor (a more experience doctor/consultant). I think because she is not sure of what to do...

I am still young. (Age 25) And still studying. Therfore, I guess she was lost if she can prescript me those long term medication. (eg. propecia)

Then both of them check the condiiton of my scape and hair again. They checked my family history on MPB also... Hiaz...

Anyway, the senior consultant also adviced me on the cost of this medication and side effect that could result from taking them (which I know in advance after reading this forum). And it is going to hurt my pockets too...

In the end, they decided to prescript me with 2 bottles of Cetrimide 5% Shampoo 200ml (NSC in-house brand shampoo for dandruff). And my next appointment will be in late April 2008 (I am not sure if I will see the same consltant again.)


1st Consultation (with Senior Consultant): S$76.00
Next Appt Deposit: S$10.00
Total: S$86.00

Everyday see my hair so thin...
The Senior Consultant still claim that it is normal to lost around 50-60 hairs everyday. But I think that is a little too much...
Anybody got any better ideal? Can I request for a blood test on the next coming appointment?

on average, a person lose 100 strands of hair per day


a blood test will be good.. in the meantime, if u think ur diet is not gd enuff, go get supplements with zinc

at least it'll help in some way..

By right, according to some account, it is normal to loose 100-150 strands per day. But the problem is they are not being replace...

Just got a referral to NSC from polyclinic, on Mar 28th. I can wait that long, probably calling them to make it earlier. Will update the visit here.

Currently using the Redken range Thinning hair shampoo for men. Used it for a week, no result yet. Even if wat Stallone said is true, i still wanna try some product b4 i give up.

I tink its a snake oil la... I even went b4 Yum Nam lo! Every time they wash and do treatment, can feel hair becoming thinner and thinner... got some articules saying that their website images r computer edited... Juz do a quite google can c liao. Those herbal ones I tink r all snake oils cuz they can say anything and no need to be proven like FDA approved propecia or minoxidil mah!

I'm quite skeptical over this product even with the newspaper article. Are u for real or just advertising for the product? I apologize if u r not the latter. And this product is not something affordable and recognized that we can "just test, see how".

The person on the photo is Vincent Yong, Managing Director and founder of the company. He told me he has a bald hair previously. When I go to meet him after reading the newspaper. He already show some hair growth in front of his head but both side of his head is still bald.

Thus, if your hair loss start from your side. This product may not help you as this is genetic. However, if your hair loss start from top or you encounter femail hair loss. This product is highly recommended

Did u use normal minoxidil liquid b4? Cuz I've been using it for 3-4mths already and can observe effect in about 2mths, i.e. got grow some hair but hairline overall still receeds. I tinking of switching to foam too cuz the liquid causing pimples for me. Maybe wanna share?

I tried liquid version for 4 months, it caused irritations on my scalp. I stopped it for more than a year until rogaine foam surface.

How much does the rogaine minoxidil foam cost and where can i get it? I've heard many good reviews of this, not to mention that it is one of the "big 3" in hairloss treatment. Sorry if this is been asked before in this thread, a little lazy to scroll back. Thanks.

thinning hair problem

Thanks for the advice guys .Most probably it's because of my poor diet,i'm undernourished so it could be that my proein intake is too low .No,i've never dyed my hair and i just started to use gel for the hair,never used clays before nor do i think it's because of dirt acumulation,because i wash my hair almost two times a day with shampoo everytime.

I have same problem due to stress, undernourished and using wrong shampoo. I went to trichologist and have some recommendation here:
1. take high protein food like fish, vegetables, nuts, egg, chicken, etc
2. if you oily scalp, get a shampoo for oily scalp.
3. Comb your hair with wide comb not brush before washing hair as it will help to reduce hair fall after washed.
4. the method of washing your hair is important. put few drops of shampoo on your palm and rub to get the bubbles before apply on your scalp (not hair). Massage the scalp to help blood circulation. Focus on your scalp only. If you have long hair, don't pull your hair up to your head when washing. Rinse and pat it dry with tower but not rubbing it. Once a day is more than enough. If you wahs it twice, it will hurts the scalp and oil and get very dray hair.
5. DOn't use blower or if you must have, turn to cool and not near the scalp.
6. Apply conditioner only on hair ends, NEVER on scalp.
7. Get a hair tonic and massage the scalp after you washed hair and before going to sleep. (this helps to grow new hair and nourish the scalp). Best if the tonic can prevent hair loss and dandruff.
7. Avoid to tie and pull your hair as it will harm the scalp.

If your hair condition do not improve after 3 months, consider to go to professional trichologist for help.
