btw what shampoos are u guys using daily? also can recommend me a place to see a demalogist? i have thinning hair...i want see a doc before it get worse.

advise please.

thanks!
Shampoo will not cause hair loss and it does not help that much in hair regrowth. So just use any shampoo you like, eg Head and Shoulders blah blah. Although there is some shampoo like Nizoral that contain some compund that are able to get rid of DHT in your scalp. However many people still doubt the effectiveness of it. If you have thinning hair, high chance you may have MPB. There are two proven medication, one is Propecia for internal intake and Minxodil for apply on your thinning area.

You can just see a Skin or hair doctor, there should be able to identify judging from the way your hair is thinning and the area affected. Most people have thinning on the crown or frontal area. If you want to be more precise, you can head down to the National Skin centre, where i heard they do blood samples all those things.

For the top post, i bought it at 688, burnt a big hole in pocket, just try try test it, see whether effective anot. Laser treatment is quite common now like in Jean yip, wheere they have this big machine. It is proven to thicken hair, but now they are under FDA testing for regrowth. The company and some of their users claims to have regrowth.

Is there any help in saw palmetto used together with propecia?

I took it b4 for 1 mth, I feel that I can urinate much easier which I have not felt for a long time ago. But will it reduce hair fall if I use it on long term?

if it really works i think 688 is nothing ... i have seen lastime on tv on some makeover and this lady was actually brought to jean yip for some hair treatment like u said. some growth were noticed by 3-4 weeks? sounds good. do keep us updated pls. 688 is not too bad in my opinion.

cheers!

New hair loss member

hi, new hair loss guy here. i just see doctor from National Skin centre. there's no blood test or whatever been done, just few word, "i'm one of the hair loss type, thinning hair, and ask to try MINOXI5, 80% will stop hair loss, and 20% will regrowth, need to use up to 6month atlest" this what the doctor said. VERY SIMPLE RIGHT? I bought minoxil at NS center for $40.43 80ml.

I think you can request for blood test, think it is available in some hospitals. Earlier threads, someone mentioned that his sister went to NSC and they took her blood samples.

Anyway, alternatively you can do a lab analysis using your hair. I know aremyhair provide this services.

b_hiong, the doctor never even take a good look at your thinning area? Well, if there is thinning it is most likely going to be the Testosterone problem affecting your hair.

Just to inform you. Minoxil is a long term topical solution. In order for it to work its magic, you got to keep using it. Once you stop, your hair will revert back to its original state and there will be a huge shedding. Commitment to this product is a must. Results normally show around three to six months, as hair grows at a slow rate.

I will also like to recommend you Propecia. If you find it too expensive, you may get Proscar and split it into five. Although some people have some doubts about it, due to its side effects, it is another FDA proven products. Side effects are very low and goes away once you stop taking it.

Never give up my fren :).

Hard to compare.

The exact way that minoxidil works is not known, but it may stimulate hair growth by improving the blood supply to the hair follicles. However not many people can use this products, because it makes your scalp very itchy. It also does not inhibits DHT which is the culprit for MPB. It is cheaper though and most people picked this product because they are afraid of Propecia side effects.

Propecia meanwhile, i would rate it as a better medication to maintain your hair, although it does regrow hairs. It is best to start early.

When both products are used together, there should be a higher success rate of reversing baldness. Not forgetting other products like Nizoral, Laser combs or Duastride. Although not proven by FDA, they do have some effects. Duastride is double dosage of finistride, and taken by those who had no signs of improvement taking Propecia. However long term side effects are not kown.

It should be able to help slow down your hair loss. It does inhibits DHT and is an extract from a plant. Some people take SP because they are worried of Propecia side unkown effects ( though no new side effects have been found yet ). Both of them have the same small percentage of same side effects, decreased libido blah blah. I am not sure of SP success rate though.. However i recommand you to only used one of this DHT inhibitor, no point getting two. Get a Topical minoxidil instead.

Guys stay cool :D. Dont let MPB ruin you, stress can accelerate hair loss. You all can get some toppik to cover the thinning area. This stuff works very well :D. It can give you all the confidence.

anybody went for hair transplant b4? Can u share ur experience here?
How old are you, no point getting a hair transplant at a very young age though. The acceleration of the hair loss is an almost predictable conclusion.

"In one scenario, the hair loss you are experiencing may have been accelerated by your transplant and now you are faced with “chasing” the progression of hair loss. You could eventually run out of hair before completing the hair restoration process if you have one of the more advanced hair loss patterns."

Quote from a doctor

Here are some facts on the "new" hair transplant technology, FUE. A good doctor is a must for Hair transplant, no point wasting your money and follicles on dumb doctors who need your money to pay for their Benz or BMW loans.

Wilb87:

do update your progress with laser comb. i believe laser comb work to certain extend. but not as well as they want you to believe. they have fail to get FDA approve again and again. so i think they are just using this to attract buyer.

anyway, minoxidil does not work by allowing more blood flow to your scalp.

Happy7:

Salem hardpack or softpack is better in term of quality? they are the same thing so does not make any different. you can get saw palmetto from almost anywhere.

Asymtope:

there is no reasonable evident that saw palmetto work for hairloss at all. i will save my money. but no harm trying since it is not expensive.

b_hiong:

get on finasteride if you are serious about your hairloss. minoxidil will not do much alone for most people. even finasteride is a poor product for regrow and only fairly good in slowing or stopping hairloss. using poor give you a better chance.

Okie haha as i mentioned i also not really sure how it works.
Anyway i went to the GNC sale today, omg prices are still not so cheap compared to other online companies.
Went and bought few items like my whey protein and Vitamin E, which is a fish oil.
Vitamin E is also quite important to our health, as it acts as antioxidant and it is important for healthy hair growth.
Actually was intending to get the Royal jelly, but too expensive liao :s 220$.

Dont really agree with you.. Some vitamins or nutrients like Omega 3 can be lost due to cooking. Some of those antioxidants you need also may not be sufficient fromy our daily meals. This may results in a lot of free radicals inside your body, making you prone to chronic diseases.

Yea, got to agree eat naturally is best. But need some supplements to go along :D. I do take Almonds every day, great stuff with vitamin E and proteins, which is great for my muscle recovery, as i hit the gym quite often :D!.

Seaweed.. hmm can do a research and share with the guys here :D

finasteride(Proscar or Propecia) and minoxidil(Rogaine or Growell) is well tested and proven to work.

other products that have the same or counter effect of the balding process might be helpful.
