Thinning Hair problem

Hi, can anyone help me ? I'm having a receding hair problem. It's like my hair line is going 'M' . What can I do ? Minoxidil can slove my problem ? I've been using it for a while but see no result. Maybe I'd just just 2 spray twice a day & it's insufficant. Now I increase to 6 spray twice a day & hope it do miracles. However, few days ago I realise that my hair seems like getting thinner.

Is this cause by my minoxidi as hair starts to shed in the process of using minoxidi ?

Some acticle also states that minoxidi does't not work in receding hairline. So which is true ?

And I intent to go to National Skin Centre to seek help, but if the Doc will to prescribe the same medication as I'm using now, am I wasting my money for the consultation ?

Lastly, any good feedback of using Proscar ?

Unlike male pattern hair loss, the cause of female pattern hair loss tends to be more ambiguous. It might be due to hormonal imbalance (which might be due to PCOS..), anemia, birth control pills, stress (like a recent surgery..) etc...

Try seeing a doctor to rule out some of the above mentioned causes. It is also a good idea to take iron supplements to rule out/prevent hair loss due to anemia. If you are taking birth control pills, either change to one tt has lesser androgenic (or male) effects, or drop it completely. If you notice tt u have excessive facial hairs etc, there is a high chance for hormonal imbalance. Some ladies also find tt Vitamin B helps. Keeping ur scalp super clean is also a good idea. Try Nizoral shampoo.

Some good news.. unlike in male, females dont usually go bald completely due to female hormones. Also, alot of the time its only Telogen Effluvium, which refers to the condition whereby there is a sudden onset of hair loss due to varies causes (such as stress) and is not permanent. You can recover all ur hair after some time (serveral months).

today finally i got my "lost" rogaine foam after about 3months.

when i opened the package, it look like the foam have suffer from some rough handling. 5 cans out of 6 are being remove from the original box which suffer from cut mark. there are some small marking all over the cans which likely being the result of cutting open the original boxes. look like some inspection by the custom. my guess is it should be from the USA side therefore causing the big delay.

but overall, i don't think they opened the cans cap and the content should be just as good as new.

After 1 week has passed, I am quite satisfied with rogaine foam compared to the liquid rogaine. It will be better if rogaine foam is scentless. The scent always remind me I have foam on my scalp

1st. It's better to seek professional advice from NSC. Last time when I went, I asked for blood test, hair bulb test but all were fine except for the blood test I found out I have Thalessamia minor (spelling).

2nd. Once ur hair loss problem is due to MPB, u can take propecia or minox or both together which I am doing now. Hair regrowth and maintence is a very $$ and time intensive

U will notice shedding within first 3-4 months of using minox or propecia. I read that, if u shed, this is an indication that the medications are working. It is normal from rogaine website.

I notice my hair loss has slowed down but no regrowth. That's why I have added rogaine 1 week ago. It need to take at least 6 mths to notice the difference.


U can go to polyclinic to request for referral to NSC. U can pay lesser for consultation fee.

Please make an appointment when u are going to NSC. They don't accept walk in consultation. stricly appointment. At least this is the case when I visit 5 years ago

I just purchase 3 months of rogaine foam from folica.com. I'm getting broke because of this curse

tell me about it. my estimate cost per year is around $1.4-1.6K base on my recent change in treatment. it surpass my not more then $100 per month goal. trying to bring it back to that range.

just need to hunt for cheaper alternative. haiz...

even before the GST and NETS hike, we have already see a surge in price for daily products we need. in july is another hike. it driving me crazy. just need to get our stuffs from other source now.

guess i will be having less outing from next month onward.

Rogaine foam is great stuffs. it very gentle on your scalp compare to the liquid version. i have problem with the scent in the beginning. after a while, i just get use to it and love it. hehe...

ya. gald it came back to me somehow. hehe... due to losing my rogaine foam, i got some Spectral DNC which is twice the price of Rogaine foam!!! cause my budget to increase. haiz... need to cut down. need to cut down.

as long as you can cover the affected area is good enough. not die die must be 1ml. minoxidil work as a local effect so as long as you can cover the area you intend to treat, the dosage does not matter.

But recently, I bought the lotion from a clinic, they told me to use that require amount (6-7 sprays) or else it will not be effective. In the past I only use a spray twice a day. I don't see any result. My problem is receding on both side. (like M ). One side is still ok, but the other side the hair is very short. It seems like can't grow any longer. Is minoxidil applicable for receding hairline ?

that what the manual wrote and they are telling you the same thing. minoxidil work by having a local effect mean it affect where you apply to but not due to sytemic effect where it goes into your body. so as long as you cover the area you are treating well, it should be fine. therefore, the bigger the area you want to treat, the more you have to use.

yes, minoxidil work for receeding hairline but not as well as the crown. do take note that minoxidil by itself is not really that effective unless you are a super-responder to it.

Hi Isopropyl, you mean not everyone is suitable for minoxidil ? If as you mention, it not neccessary to use 6-7 sprays but just enought to cover that particular area. Can I check with you, I have been using it for abt 1 year plus (1-2 spray) my receding hairline doesn't seems grow longer, it remain just like before when I first when I first use minoxidil (short -abt 0.25cm). So to say I might not be suitable for it ? Is there other effective methods which I can apply ? Pls advise.
